**Perrie's P.O.V.**
"Jade!" I cry as her eyes close slowly. "Jade! C'mon baby! Wake up! I'm sorry!" I shake her, trying to get her to wake up. I hear the door open in the background and several doctors rush in. I feel hands on my arms, pulling me further and further away from my Jade. I scream and struggle against the arms that are pulling me back, out the door.
"No! I have to make sure she's okay! I did something to her and I have to make sure she's not going to die!" I shout and stuggle again, scratching and clawing at the two firm arms that held me in one of those hard plastic chairs in the waiting room. I follow the arms up to a face. Louis' face.
"Perrie," he says, voice firm but eyes concerned. "We don't know what is wrong with Jade. That is why we need to let the doctors do their job. Their job is to make sure Jade is okay and recovering. Perrie, you need to calm down. This is not doing you, or Jade any better."
I consider his words. That is true. I look back up at his tired face. "I did this to her. I walked in, looking like this," I gesture to my stick of a body. "And she worries about me and I shout back saying I'm fine and then her eyes roll back and her eyes close! I did something Louis!" I cry. Louis grabs me firmly by the shoulders and gives me a little shake.
"Perrie. Stop blaming yourself! I was the one who put her in here, not you! I permanently damaged her!" Louis cries. I stop and nod.
"Yeah. It's not my fault . . . It's yours! Louis! You did this to her! You smashed her head against a brick wall several times and damaged her brain! You made her forget everything! You made her forget me! Don't touch me! Leave me alone! I never want to see you again!" I shout at the top of my lungs. Louis looks at me, hurt crossing his face. I just glare at him. Several people passing through, stare at us. I know I'm making a scene but he hurt my Jadey and I can never forgive him for that. He made her forget me.
Louis gives me one last, hurtful look, before standing and turning towards the lift. I watch him go, glaring at his back. Before he hops in the lift, he turns and gives me one last pained look. I just turn my back and face the other way. I hear the lift ding and I turn back to see Louis gone.
"Good," I mutter to myself. And then I remember my situation. Jade. I stand and sprint back to Jade's room. Doctors are going in and out of the room, talking fast in a technological language that I don't understand. Shouting things at each other and passing tools that look very scary. I stand just outside, hopping from one foot to the other, trying to get a peek at my Jadey. I can't see anything so I give up and go back to that waiting area. Looks like it's going to be a long wait for me.
***********
"Perrie?" a voice says, waking me from my slumber. I groan and push away the person, wanting to sleep some more.
"Perrie!" The voice says again. This time, two hands reach out and shake me. I smack them away.
"Perrie Louise Edwards! Wake up right now!" the voice shouts a bit, closer to my ear.
"Fine. Fine!" I groan. I slowly peel open my eyes, blinking in the bright light of the hospital hallway. I rub my eyes and sit up straight in my chair. Wait. Hospital? Chair? And then in dawns on me. Jade is in hospital. I am in the waiting room chair, sleeping. Jade. I stand suddenly, making a move to make sure Jade is okay.
"Perrie! Wait! Sit back down!" the voice says. I turn to where it's coming from and glare at . . . Zayn?
"Zayn? What are you doing here?" I ask.
"Perrie, please sit back down and I'll explain," Zayn says, patting the black plastic chair I was just sleeping on. I sit down and stare at him expectendly.
"So?" I ask.
He sighs. "Perrie, Louis told me what you said," I open my mouth to protest but Zayn holds up his finger. "And he told me about Jade. I am here in his place because I know you need someone here to help you through this. Especially in your . . . condition. Please don't bite my head off," he explains.
Now it was my turn to sigh. "Thanks, really, Zayn, but I don't need it-"
"Perrie, look at you!" Zayn cuts me off. "Have you looked in the mirror lately?! You are skin and bone! Your cheeks are sunken in and your eyes have huge bags under them! You have huge cuts up and down your arms!" I pull down my jacket sleeves, covering my scars in embarrassment. "Perrie! You need food in you! You need help!"
"I've had enough, Zayn!" I suddenly exclaim, furious that he had the nerve to come in here and tell me that I needed help. "You just walk in here, wake me up from my first dreamless sleep in months, and tell me that I need help! Zayn! I know I need help! But for me, Jade comes first! If you are really here to help, then go a figure out what is wrong with Jade!" I shout, standing up, hands on my hips.
"Okay, I will! I'll find out what is wrong with your Jade! But only, if you go to the food court and eat something," Zayn reasons. And that's when I stop. I sink back into my chair and look down at my boney hands, attached together in my lap.
"Zayn. I - I can't . . ."
"Why not?"
"My stomach has gotten so used to not eating, that whenever I drink something, I throw it up. My stomach doesn't process anything any more," I explain. Zayn's body goes limp beside me as he slumps into his chair.
"Oh Perrie," was all he said. His arms find their way around my fragile shoulders and pull me into his chest gently, careful not to crush my shoulders in the process. We sit there for a while, just hugging.
"Perrie," he says after a few minutes. "You know this is serious. Your condition. And you should be in hospital . . ." he trails off.
"I know. But I need to see if Jade is alright!" I try to get out of his grip to see my Jadey but he was too strong.
"Perrie. Stop it!" I stop struggling and slump back into his chest, exhausted from the effort.
"Perrie, I need to tell a doctor about this. You are seriously ill. If you are in hospital, you are still with Jade. Just a couple floors away. I can come see you and give you all the news of Jade's recovery. Please Perrie! I'm so worried about you!" Zayn explains.
I take in his words and try to process them. Just doing normal things in life are a struggle for me these days. Walking tires me and I have to sit down for at least ten minutes before trying again. Zayn's right. I need this. I nod.
"Okay. Hand me in," I say. Zayn grins and kisses my cheek.
"Thank you, Perrie," he says before lifting me off his lap and placing me in his place and running after the doctor that was just about to hop in the lift. I watch as the have a conversation, every now and again, looking over at me. The doctor frowns and nods, listening to Zayn's words. When Zayn finishes, the doctor gives one last nod before turning towards me and walking over. He gives me a kind smile.
"Hello, I'm Dr. Martin. Are you Perrie?" he says, warmly. I nod and his smile widens.
"Great! Would you like to come with me?" he asks, reaching out his hand for me to take. I give Zayn one last look and he smiles encouragingly. I look back at Dr. Martin and reach up and take his hand. Dr. Martin leads me towards the lift and as we pass Zayn, he leans down and kisses my cheek again.
"Good girl," he whispers. "I promise to stay with Jade." I nod as Dr. Martin leads me down the hallway and into the lift. He takes me up two floors and hands me to another doctor. The new doctor introduces himself as Dr. Samuels and takes me into a room, exactly like Jade's. Well this is it, I think. My first steps to recovery.
