Chapter 3
•Louis POV•
I was pulling up to her apartment. I had a feeling in my stomach that I had never felt before with any girl. They felt like...butterflies? I have heard people talk about this feeling but I never knew what it felt like. I usually had one night stands, feeling nothing and never calling back. I then turned my head to look out my driver side window. There I saw a beautiful girl walking down the stairs. I swear in that moment I couldn't breathe. In my right hand I had bouquet of flowers but I could see that the flowers were shaking a little from my hands. I have never before had brought a girl flowers on a date, in that same sense I had never felt or seen a girl of that beauty or who made me feel the way I was feeling at the moment. I stepped out of the car to greet Kalel with my the flowers behind my back.
"Hey, you look beautiful," I said with a smirk forming on my face. I saw her blush as she put her head down a bit. "Thanks," she said in a timid voice. I moved my one free hand and lifted her chin. "I got these for you," I said pulling the flowers from behind my back. I heard her give out a small gasp and a smile emerging from her lips. Her soft looking, pink lips. She gently took the flowers from my hands and smelled them. I added,"I got the yellow and pink roses because that's the colors of the ones on you sweatshirt." She took the flowers down from her nose. "I love them, thank you," she said while making eye contact with me. Her brown eyes were so dark they seemed as if they were black. Her glasses complimented her eyes perfectly. They colors went from dark brown, to a lighter brown, to white. The glass were also bigger in size then I had every seen before. "Louis?" She asked. I must have been quite for to long.
I lead her around to the passenger side door and opened it for her. "Lady's first," I politely. She nodded her head in a thanks. I then jogged around to the other side and slid in to the car. I started driving when she turned to me. "Were are we going?" She asked more confident then last she spoke. "You'll see," I replied nonchalantly. I honestly didn't know where I was going but I was finding my way. We sat in silence for the rest of the ride. I noticed a small little cafe that we we were passing. I didn't know much about dates so I assumed that would be a good place to stop. "We're here," I said parking in front of the cafe. I turned off the engine, stepped out of the car and walked around to Kalels' side and opened the door. I extended my hand to help her out of the car. " Thank you," she said smiling. She accepted my out reached hand and stepped out of the car.
"So what do you want?" I asked her as she seemed to be studying the menu. Her nose seemed to be stuck in there as she didn't even seem to look up as she answered. "I think...I'll have...the um..."she muttered still having her nose stuck in the menu. I laughed a little at her indecisiveness. Her head shot up. Her eyes narrowed a bit as a smirk appeared on her face. "Are you laughing at me?" She questioned. "Yes, in a matter of fact I am," I struck back playing this game. Her eyes narrowed even more. "You better give me a good reason why you were laughing at me, or else," she warned. I laughed even more. "Or else what?" I questioned her warn. "Um...or else...," she was trying to think of a come back. I had won this battle and I was going to let her know it. I wanted to see how annoyed I could get her. "Seems like that threat was a," I paused for a intense moment,"fail." Her mouth dropped open as I saw a fight in her eyes. But that soon disappeared as she bowed her head in defeat. Her head lifted,"I'll win next time!" She said. "Sure," sarcasm was high in my voice.
After dinner I started driving along the country side. I glanced over to see Kalel, who had a confused look on her face. "I never said this date was over yet," I replied to assure her to what I was doing. Her confused face lighten as a smile grew. The country was especially beautiful tonight. The sunsetting, which made the sky orange and pink. Then the few houses there. The telephone wires framing the sides of the road with the occasional light hanging from the posts. "I grew up here," she stated. "What?" She caught me slightly off guard. "This house here, the red one, that's were I grew up. Or my childhood home," her eyes were wet with tears forming in her eyes. I slowed the car down and pulled beside the house as I was curious with questions. "Do your parents still live here?" I wondered. "Yeah they do, they even have my room the same as when I moved out," she laughed slightly wiping her eyes,"but they aren't home right now, they're on vacation." That struck my interest. I wanted to see my, hopefully girlfriend's, childhood room. "Can I see your room?" I asked. Her head turned to see me. "Sure," she smiled.
She struggled to find the hidden key under a rock. I sat in amusement as she let curse words fall from her lips. She finally got up from the ground with the key raised victoriously in her hand. I followed her to the front door were she put the key in the lock and opened the door. She stepped in and turned on a set of lights that illuminated the living room. I stepped in after her, she gently shut the door and turned to me. " My room is down that hallway," she said pointing. I walked passed her to find her room. It wasn't that hard, considering her bedroom door had a sign that said 'Kalels' Room'. I swung the door open and turned the light on. "Holy sh--," I was about to say but she cut me off. "Yeah, I know I have a lot of my paintings scattered across the room," she sighed. She had at least a dozen of paintings that, as I found out, she had painted. From oil to acrylic. I picked up one that caught my eye. It had a silhouette of two people kissing. "Is this you?" I gestured pointing to the girl figure. She was a bit hesitant to answer. "Yeah that was of my boyfriend and Me,well ex-boyfriend, we aren't together anymore," a panic spread throughout her voice. I set the painting down and walked over to her, I set my hand on her cheek. "It's alright, I was just wondering." I could tell that made her feel a little better. I sat on her bed which was up against a wall. She followed and sat down next to me. We sat in silence for a few moments, enjoying the rest of the day I guessed. But they was one last thing I had to do to make this a successful date.
I took her right hand in my left. I interlocked our fingers and set our hands down on my lap as I scooted closer to her. She smiled, I must have done good for a first date.
