I sitting on the couch watching TV while Louis went out to pick up a few things. He did say exactly what he was getting but I assumed he was getting some food. I kept switching channels, as nothing good was on. Nothing good was ever on. I finally stopped on the sports channel to see that a soccer game was on. I moaned in frustration as I was going to keep it on this but I really, truly, have no interest in soccer - in fact, I hate it.

I watched the screen for all of two seconds before looking down at my phone. I hadn't really noticed what month it was. It was my birthday in a week. I placed my head in my hands as I started to get stressed. My parents always took me out to dinner for my birthday, which I loved but, Louis would probably want to too. Which meant that he would come with for my birthday dinner and meet my parents. I wasn't ready for that, I actually haven't even told them I had a boyfriend.

Louis wasn't the type of guy you'd just show to parents like a trophy and they love him too, no, that's not Louis. He's more the type of person you first introduce as a friend, telling your parents how sweet and kind he is. Then you slowly drop hints about you having a crush on him, after time, you sit your parents down and tell them you're dating him. And I haven't been doing this, and I don't want to start now.

My thoughts were interrupted with the sound of the front door opening. I set down phone, turning my focus back to the soccer game. Some team was winning but I really didn't care where they were from. Then I felt warm kisses being placed along my neck until a final one was placed on my cheek. I turned so I could see Louis.

"Hey," he said with a smile forming on his face.

"Hey," I said back.

I had a few things I needed to tell Louis. I was still deciding if I should tell him now or late. I decided to do it know, do it quick and fast, like pulling off a band-aid.

"Hey,um, I have something to tell you," I said fiddling with my thumbs.

"Yeah, shoot," Louis said looking concerned.

"Okay, so the thing is my birthday is sort of in a week and my parents always take me out for dinner and so I thought that you could maybe come with me so you could meet them," I said really fast.

"Of course I'll come but, how come I didn't know it was your birthday in a week until now?" he questioned.

"I forgot I guess, I'm not really a fan of birthdays anyways," I shrugged.

"Well I guess I need to get you something now," Louis softly laughed as he scratched the back of his neck.

And this is why I hate birthdays. I hate the fact of people buying someone a gift just because they were born on that day. Like, wooh, Kalel was born on this day lets buy her a gift-card! No, let's not. I also don't like telling people my birthday either to try and avoid people insisting on gift-giving to me.

"No, you don't have to get me anything," I said leaning in giving him a small peck on the lips. I got up a started walking, I had not set place that I was walking too just somewhere to keep me from arguing about this.

"No matter what you say I am," he yelled loud enough for me to hear. I sighed and rolled my eyes.

....

The week leading up to my birthday had gone way too fast. One day I was 19 the next day a day-and-a-half away from being 20. Louis hadn't said anymore about a present for me, which I was very greatful that he dropped that matter. Also, as I had expected, my mother called me and said that my dad and her would take me out today. I agreed and said I was going to bring someone. My mother asked who but, I said that she'd met the person soon enough.
