Third chapter of Xander. Enjoy!

As I walk towards the school's entrance, I feel everyone's eyes on me.
They heard the news.
Well no duh, Sherlock. Everyone loved him.
The whispering and the rather blunt pointing starts as soon as I walk into the building. I ignore most of the nosy and annoying people, but one girl stands out the most. Phoebe Anderson. Her crystal green eyes connect with mine, and an evil smirk spreads across her face.
I repress my sudden anger to the stupid blond, and turn back to my locker as I hear a rather fake deafening shriek.
"Abigail McCrae! It's been for-ever!"
I blatantly ignore her as I more forcefully than before stuff my books into my red Jan sport backpack.
Suddenly I'm gripped painfully on my shoulder and swirled around to be shoved back into my locker, slamming it shut.
"Answer me when I'm talking to you," Phoebe Anderson spits at me. I ignore the pain across my back and give her a sickly sweet smile.
"Phoebe, honey, I didn't recognize you. Did you get another nose job?"
The crowd that has formed around us snickers at the unintentional-who am I kidding? I totally meant to say that- insult.
"You little-"
"What's going on here?"
We both turn to see Kyle make his way through the crowd with confusion shining through his eyes.
The anger fades from Phoebe's eyes, and she fluffs her curls and smoothes down her frilly hot pink dress.
Kyle looks to me and says, "Abby? What's going on?"
"Why don't you ask her?" I nod my head at Phoebe in annoyance.
Phoebe forces a laugh and exclaims too enthusiastically, "Oh, we were just talking about how rude she can be sometimes and how the love of her life is coming back."
My blood runs cold at the last part, and I don't realize I'm clenching my fists.
"Huh?" Kyle's clearly confused, and the whole crowd is silent. They act like we're dating or something.
"She hasn't told you about Xander?" She fake gasps, and throws a smirk my way when he looks at me with his eyebrows raised.
"Well, I've heard of who he is but. . ."
"Seriously? How did you not know that your pathetic little girlfriend followed him around like a puppy?"
Without thinking twice, I raise my hand and slap her across the face. The whole hallway falls quiet and the air is electrified, like right before a thunderstorm.
My eyes widen in realization of what I did, and in the next second I'm running down the hallway and out the school doors.

I couldn't go home. My mom was home, and my dad... he could honestly be anywhere. So when I find myself parked at Xander and I's old favorite diner, I get out of the car and hesitantly make my way to the entrance.
