I threw my backpack on my bedroom floor and slumped belly onto my bed with my face buried into the clean white sheets. I clamp my eyes shut and remembered how close Mamoona was to me when she measured me for my dress. All I felt was bliss at that moment and it almost felt like time stopped for that moment, but all together it was terrifying at the same time. Should I talk about it to Moona? What if she thinks that I am a creep? My thoughts were invaded by a knock on my door and I pulled my head up to see Marcus to be dressed his PJs as it was already 11 o'clock pm. He was holding two steaming mugs. "I made you some tea," he said.
"Thanks," I mumbled and I took an orange mug from his hand leaving him with the purple one with black stripes.
"Well good night," he said and turned around to the door.
I quickly jolted up to a seated position and quickly called out, "Marcus! Wait, stop!"
He rotated around to face me. "Yes?" He asked.
"Aren't you gonna ask me about my day today?"I flashed him a goofy smile.
He knitted his eyebrows together and then relaxed them. "Oh right," he came to a realization, "today was your little date with the girl we saw on the street."
"Her name is Mamoona," I told him, "and it wasn't a date."
"You don't have to lie to me" -Marcus came over to pull out my chair from my desk and sat to face me- "I already know."
I giggled at his remarked. "It really wasn't a date."
He nodded understandingly. "Uh-huh, so you have feelings for her then."
Some part of me was denying him and the other part of me was just smiling like an idiot. "What... No, I just met her," I said.
"It doesn't mean you can't have an attraction."
I rolled my eyes I always hate it when he's right. Once again Marcus had beat me to it. I raised my arms in defeat. "Alright, alright, you caught me I might have a wee bit of a crush on her."
"Aha! I knew it!" he exclaimed excitedly, "so what next are you gonna ask her out or something?"
"What, no."
Marcus' eyes grew large. "No?!" he spatted, "who are you and what have you done to my friend? You always make a move when you have the slightest attraction for a girl."
I looked down to my hands. "Yeah well, how that turned out? Ever since I have been with Kayla I have never been in a serious relationship that lasts more than 3 months," I told him.
Marcus sunk into the chair and sighed heavily. "I have never thought that I hear a player who can get any girl she wants comes to this. Are you saying that she is the one?" Marcus asked dramatically.
"I don't know, Marcus I just met her and I don't know if she even feels the same way. Her family is extra religious, I don't think they want their daughter to be with a girl," I replied hopelessly.
Marcus reached out for my arm. "Hey, whatever your choice is you know I will support you," Marcus told me.
I gave him a smile and he smiled back. I am very grateful to have a best friend like him. He has been with me for almost everything and plus, he knows about Kayla.
