Mamoona

I was in my room working on my assignment, but then I find myself gradually started to resketch the design I drew in the coffee shop in my new notebook. Damn! Again? Wait 'till you get kick out of med school, then you'll be sorry.

Then my bedroom door flew open and in came Sabrina, my cousin, and best friend comes rushing towards me. "Moona! Moona! You wouldn't believe it!" She squeeled.

I analyzed her over joyed face. "Did something happen in the new Bollywood show?" I guessed.

She shook her head rapidly and her joy was still stuck to her face. I leaned back on my chair and pretended to think hard. "Hmm... Did something happened in the new Korean drama you're watching?" I guessed again.

She rolled her eyes of annoyance. "No, Moona. It's nothing to do with tv dramas,"

"But you always talk about tv dramas," I chuckled.

I looked over to Sabrina and she looked as she was about to die of excitement. "I'm getting married!" She exploded.

She's getting what...? "You're getting what...?" I choked.

She sat herself down on my bed, while being satisfied with my shocked reaction. "Well don't look so surprised, it's about time I find Mr. Right,"

"Who is he?" I asked, while I tried to wipe my disbelief from my face.

"His name is Amir Mohammed. I only met him once, and he looks like a cross of Zayn Malik and your brother Hassan," she squealed again.

I tried imagining the image of my brother and Zayn Malik's hypothetical baby. Well my brother is pretty good looking, but I don't know about Malik, though, I guess he looks alright.

"Uh-huh," I nodded in astonishment.

"And do you know what's the best part about him?" She squealed as I saw her get excited.

"He likes K-drama too?" I jokingly guessed with a shrug.

She rolled her eyes again, while I laughed at my own joke.

"I'm being serious here," she told me, "this is my future husband we are talking about, Moona."

"Alright okay. What's the greatest thing about him?"

"He's the CEO of a big company and is one of Google's business partner,"

"He must be really well off then," I remarked.

"Yeah! I know!" Sabrina beamed, "isn't he a catch?"

I closed my sketch book and placed it on my table where my laptop rested. I tried to calmed my thoughts on my designs.

"When's the great day?" I asked her.

"My parents and his parents planned next month," she answered.

I raised from my chair and took Sabrina's hands. "I'm very happy for you, congratulations," I said to her.

We went downstairs to the living room for me to say greet my aunts and uncle. "Salaam Uncle and Auntie," I greeted.

They were sitting on the couch with my mom. On the coffee table was a bowl of salted almonds and the Arabic radio played in the background.

Sabrina's mom smiled. "Mamoona, I heard you are in medical school now," she acknowledged.

I saw the pride in my mom and dad's face, as I nodded. "Yes Auntie, I am," I replied.

"Good, good. You're going to be a great doctor," she complemented.

"But a great doctor must have a good husband to take care of. Mamoona, you're over that age to be getting married," my uncle chipped in.

I really didn't know how to reply. My dad replied for me, "we are keeping an eye out for a good husband for Mamoona."

"Should I suggest some great candidate that I know?" My aunt asked.

I again didn't knew how to reply, so my mom budded in, "that'll be great. Thank you."

Sabrina hugged my arm and she was squeezing it with joy and excitement. I forced a smile. "Sabrina is getting married, I'm so happy for my cousin. Tell me if you will be needing any help with anything," I told my relatives.

The night went on, I tried to avoid the topic of me getting married as much as possible, while I tried to be as happy for Sabrina. I'm gonna miss my best friend.
