My alarm went wild, yet I managed to tune it out and sneak another five minutes of sleep in, but soon the five minutes turn to half an hour and I realized I was late. Quickly jumping out of my bed and cursed to myself. How could you be late for the first day of work?

Quickly running out of my room, I smelled breakfast and I felt my stomach rumbled. Walking to the bigger room, I caught a glimpse of my friend/roommate Marcus.

Marcus was my best friend ever since freshmen in college when he and I both took the same journalism course that semester. Marcus has dark gelled up hair, hazel eyes and broad shoulders. He was half Korean, half Russian.

"Morning, someone's running late," he chuckled,

I dug into my purse that I've pre-packed last night, to check if everything was in there. In there were lipgloss, napkin, my wallet and water bottle. "Oh shut up, like you are always on time," I rolled my eyes.

"So are you staying for breakfast or are you going to go to work on an empty stomach?" Marcus asked.

"I would love to stay for bacon and eggs, but I can't be late for the first day on the job," I moaned.

"So an empty stomach on the first day? Sucks to be you," he mocked.

I left Marcus with a playful punch on the arm as he gave me his famous 'I'm gonna pretend that I'm annoyed with you' look.

I graduated from college a 2 months ago not knowing what I want to do with the rest of my life, luckily I was able to get a hold of a job as a waitress at a coffee shop near a medical school. At least this job can pay my monthly rent for the time being. The rest of my life will come to me, I just need some time to figure things out.

Growing up was not bad for me, especially as a queer woman. My family isn't as religious, that makes coming out not as hard. But long ago, my parents went to church, but that's before they were busy with their jobs. They managed to get used to the fact that was into girls after I came out.

Us family of three lived away from the cities and in the suburbs. Now, I moved in the cities for college and work, but I visit my parents once a month.

I had a lover, her name was Nyla she was everything to me, but one summer after freshman year she packed her bags and left without saying anything. Since then, I haven't been in any committed relationships, and I haven't saw her ever since.
