Mira v. Kid

~~Kid's POV~~
I wipe the dust off the bookshelves, arranging everything to be exactly half an inch apart. I've already swept, mopped, and organized every room except for my own. However, unlike usual, my mind isn't in it, instead I'm thinking of my battle with Mira in a few hours.

Last night Levy slept in my room, not doing anything, just laying there curled into me. I ran my fingers through her blue hair and stared into her brown eyes. She was worried for me, that much was obvious, but I wasn't expecting her tears. I asked, "What's wrong?"

All she did was shake her head and reply with "She could kill you."

We didn't say another word.

Everyone's warned me about fighting her, but I don't understand what's the big deal. I mean she seems sweet, and even if she was a good fighter, it would be close interval. My long and short range would be able to beat her. I hope.

~~Mira's POV~~
I tap my foot on the asphalt, staring at the clock and counting each minute until the fight. People start surrounding me, making sure to make room for Kid. I see familiar and unfamiliar faces all looking equally as awkward. Maybe this fight is petty, but it'd be different if it was a smaller ship. If Lisanna dated someone other than Bixlow I'd be upset, but this is bigger. Nobody messes with GaLe or NaLu or Gruvia. I glance over to see Lucy and Soul talking and Gray talking to Tsubako? Tsunami? I don't think anyone but Levy knows her name.

As I see Kid walking up, one thing is clear.

I will defend my OTPs going down swinging.

~~Gajeel's POV~~
Kid walks up to Mira a bit too calm for my taste. He walks too much for my taste. He breathes too much for my taste.

He's had his eye on Levy since we got here, and now he has her, but he's willing to throw her away for a fight? My fists clench, wanting his neck to be in my hands so badly it hurts. I know I've screwed up before and I know I screwed up since we got here, but she hasn't given me a chance to apologize. And now she's going out with this guy?!?!

I catch her eye for a second before she turns away, her beautiful brown eyes piercing my soul before flying back to Kid. I miss her. I miss her a lot. I miss ruffling her blue hair and making fun of her height. I miss having her by my side. I miss "accidentally" falling asleep on train rides with my head on her shoulder. I want her back. And I'm going to fight for it.

The bell tolls signaling noon, and I look up to see the sun laughing at us. Mira switches to Satan Soul, black flames surrounding her entire body, and Kid takes his stance, Liz and Patty, the twin pistols, at his side. We watch as they switch to weapon form. Erza walks out with two signs, and the fight begins as the second drops.

Mira moves quick, rushing across the courtyard toward Kid. He slides away at just the right moment, and empties two bullets into Mira's thighs. My muscles tense. If this brat wins, he gets to keep Levy. I look to Mira, and she's grunting. The wounds in her legs won't stop her, but it might slow her down. "Come on, Mira!!!"

Everyone from Fairy Tail looks at me for a second before joining me in cheering her on.

"Go Mira!!!"

"You can do it!!!"

"Fairy Tail for the win!!!"

"Gajevy Forever!!!"

Levy and I both blush at this, wishing to disappear. This seemed to motivate Mira but Kid seemed to be fuming. He started emptying bullets into her, left and right, but it was too late for him. Mira was in full Satan mode, but worst/best of all... she was motivated.

She moved with the stealth of a ninja and the stubbornness of a bull. She jumped on him, pounding her fists into his face, gut, and chest with such power and precision it scared all of us. Well, except Erza. She's been standing with her arms crossed the whole time.

Kid manages to loosen up one of his arms and shoots Mira right in the chest. We all stand there shocked, not a single one of us breathes. Mira stumbles back, blood dripping from the corner of her lips, before falling onto the ground. No one moves. Did this kid just kill Mira?

Lucy and Juvia start crying, and Natsu and Gray comfort them. Natsu and Erza both have murder written across their face. I start making my way toward Levy, who just stands there in utter shock. Don't get me wrong, Mira has gotten me through tough times, but Levy is always first on my mind.

Something's gotten into Kid. His eyes obscured by his bangs, we watch in horror as the guns begin consuming his arms and transforming into canons. I run harder toward Levy, because I can see the next few seconds play out before they happen and I don't like what I see. Mira finally comes to. Kid sends an enormous blast of pure power straight at Mira, and by some miracle she moves out of the way before it hits her.

But Levy's standing right behind her.

I jump in front of her right in time, keeping her safe is the only important thing in this world.

"GAJEEL!"
