Daryl's POV

I watched her as she walked into the forest, disappearing amongst the brush.

And just like that she was gone.

It was to soon

I knew she was leaving, why couldn't I just accept that that was the last time I was going to see her.

I heard footsteps come up beside me and out of the corner of my eye I saw Rick.

He didn't say anything, he just stood there with me as I stared into the woods, silently begging for her to come back.

I didn't know if I cared about her as more then a friend...a sister...a someone...I don't know...and a few days ago I didn't want to find out.

But I wanted to now that she was gone.

My heart never ached this way for anyone.

"She'll find us again..." Rick said quietly

"How do you know that...." I asked him grimly

"Because she didn't leave because she wanted to....she left because she was afraid" he said

I stood there for a long moment before simply nodding and turning around to walk back to my room.

Dahlia's POV, 8 hours later

The day was uneventful even after I left The Hilltop

Not many walkers around that needed killing.

No people in sight for me to see

Just the endless forests and windy weather.

Just endless nothingness.

I shook my head silently to myself as my bottom lip quivered.

This isn't what I wanted

I looked through the forest and my eyes landed on a small little wooden cabin. Tiny. Perfect. Looked untouched.

I took my gun from my holster on my leg and a knife in my other hand.

I slowly walked up the steps, looking around. The door was partially open and I heard nothing from within as I poked my head in and looked around.

Just as I thought. Nothing.

I saw a small lantern on the wooden table and I set my things down as I grabbed some matches and lit the lantern with ease, hanging it up on a hook.

I looked around. There was a small single bed in the corner and it had nice quilted blankets.

The place was nice and picked up. But dusty as hell. Which meant whoever owned this place obviously couldn't get here before the outbreak.

There was a fireplace even with a pan over it for cooking.

I leaned against the beam as I started lighting other lanterns and I felt my eyes pooling up with tears again.

Tears trailed down my cheeks like waterfalls and I sniffled a little as I bit my lip and continued on lighting lanterns

I didn't want to be here

I didn't want to be alone like this.

I wanted to be at The Hilltop.

But even if I wanted to, Rick and everyone else would be gone. Back at Alexandria.

And I had no idea where that even was.

I sat on the edge of the bed and grabbed out some of the dried meat that Maggie gave me and I started eating a few pieces as I laid on the bed and and stared at the wooden ceiling.

I don't know how long I could take this.

When did I become so weak.

Why did I miss him like this?
