Luke's P.O.V

I didn't think it was possible to fall more in love with Maggie. Every time I look at her, I fall deeper in love. If only she would fine me more than just her body. I'd show her that it's okay to love someone else. We could be so good together. I wish she'd just give me a chance.

"Morning." She's so damn sexy in the mornings.

"Morning, Mags. Sleep well?"

"Yeah." She scoots closer to me. "How'd you sleep?"

"Just fine."

"That's good."

I know we agreed to a completely platonic relationship, but I knew what I was getting into from the beginning. I planned to make her fall in love with me. It doesn't seem to be working. She still doesn't seem to keen on the idea of love, but it's only been a month. There's still time. Maybe if I tell her how I feel, she'll change her mind. There's only one way to find out.

"Maggie, I need to tell you something."

She sits up. "What is it?"

Here goes. "I love you. I've been in love with you since high school."

I look up at her. She has a look of disbelief on her face. Maybe I went a little too far. I might have just pushed her over the limit.

"I-"

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I'm gonna go take a shower now."

I get off the bed and grab my clothes off the floor. I put on my boxers and pants. I slip on my shoes and leave the room. I go out to my truck and toss my shirt and socks in. I reach for my duffle bag and get out a clean outfit and socks. Then I go back inside. I go to the downstairs bathroom.

After my shower, I go to the kitchen to get a glass of water. When I go in the living room, I see that Maggie still isn't downstairs. I really shouldn't have said what I did. I think I may have messed up our relationship. I guess I just need to give her a little time compose herself. Maybe hanging out with more people will help ease the awkwardness between us.

Chelsea walks in through the door.

"Oh. Hello. I didn't expect to see you here."

"Didn't you see my truck out front?"

"Yeah. I just thought you'd be upstairs with Maggie. She is up there, isn't she?"

"Yeah."

"Then why are you down here?"

"I told her I love her but she's not looking for love. She just wants to have a little fun. I agreed but I can't settle for that. I love her. I want her to fall in love with me. How do I do that?"

"Good question. I don't have an answer."

Before I can say anything else, Maggie comes down the stairs. She sits in the recliner. I so bad want to reach over and pull her into my lap. Too bad she's so afraid of love and affection. I'll just do what I can to show her love can be good. But for now, I'll give her her space.

"I didn't expect you home this early, Chelsea."

"Yeah, well Taylor had to go to work early this morning. I didn't feel like sitting by myself."

"Okay."

"Is something wrong, Maggie? You look a little sick."

"I'm fine."

"You're sure?"

"Yes. There's nothing to worry about."

She glances at me. There's this hint of sadness in her eyes. I guess it's because she can't love me the way I love her. That's okay for now. I'll show her that it's okay to let your heart lead you sometimes.
