Chapter 2: The approval.

Kole POV

As much as I’d wanted to follow Sienna I’d decided against the whole stalker thing. That’s never sexy.

After I jumped in my car and practically sped home, I found my father in his study. “I found a girl.” I said not bothering to say hello.

“What?” He said either because he hadn’t heard me or because he was astonished.

“I was walking around town, when I ran into a girl.” Literally. “And I think she’s rather perfect.”

“Who is she?”

“Sienna Violet.” I answered never having forgot the name sense I’d met her.

“I don’t think I’ve ever heard you say that name.” He started typing something on his computer. “Is she a friend of yours?”

“No.” I stated simply.

He looked at me over the edge of the computer. “No? As in you just met her?”

“…Yes.”

“What’s wrong with any of the girls you already know?”

I sighed running a hand through my hair. “None of them actually like me for me.”

“Who says she will?”

“Who says she won’t?”

He sighed. “Fine I’ll do a back ground check on her and look into it. If your mother and I approve then we’ll talk to the family.”

“I have a vibe about her father. I think she’ll be good for this place.” I said before leaving.

Over the course of the next week I’d thought a lot to myself about what Sienna would think when she heard the news. I imagined her wondering at first who I was but after seeing me remembering who I was. I imagined her being happy, and being excited. In all reality though she will probably be confused or angry at the whole situation. I wondered how it would feel to not have a say in anything. But I did know didn’t I? I was being forced into this marriage too wasn’t I?

Yes but not as much as she would be. I was actually looking forward to being with her. To getting to know her. She’ll come around eventually. I’m sure of it. “Kole!” I heard my mom knocking on my door.

“Come in.” I answered.

She opened the door and leaned against the frame. “We talked to the girl’s parents today.”

“You did?” I sat up straighter. “How’d it go?”

“It took some convincing but her parents agreed to it.”

“Wait you didn’t talk to her about it?”

“Her parents will.” So she wasn’t even aware of it yet.” She’ll be here the day after tomorrow.” My mother said and with that she left.

“The day after tomorrow.” I murmured leaning back on my bed.

Sienna POV

“Sienna?” My mom yelled from the living room. I turned off the sink deciding I’d see what she wants then finish the dishes.

“Ya mom?” I asked sitting across from her and dad. They didn’t say anything; they just sat there in silence looking nervous. “Did you guys just call me in to stare at me or something?”

My dad sighed took my hand in his. “We were made an offer yesterday.”

“An offer on what?” I asked. I could see worry lines on their faces.

“Your hand in marriage.” My mother blurted out.

I pulled my hand away from my fathers. “Wait…what?”

“The king and queen came to us saying that-“

“Sense when have we even been on their radar?” I yelled standing up.

“Saying that,” My father continued. “Their son was interested in marrying you.”

“I’ve never even met their son!”

“Apparently he ran into you while walking down the street.”

Wait they’re talking about the cute dark haired boy with the crystal blue eyes. The guy I literally ran into. “Ok so the guy has an interest but it doesn’t matter because you said no.” I looked back and they were both staring at the ground. “Right?” My question was met by silence. I could feel tears fill my eyes threatening to spill over. “Right?” I yelled.

“Honey you have to understand we were struggling with money, and they offered us a great deal-“

“Wait let me get this straight you sold me?”

“We wanted you to be happy! They offered a position in society and a husband who could make you happy. You’ll have a place in this world.” My mother said. I could see tears start to fill her own eyes, I don’t know why though I was the one they’d sold away.

“If you wanted me to be happy you should have left me out of this. I could have gotten a job, and I could have found my own husband with time. I’m seventeen not twenty-five!”

“Young marriage isn’t that uncommon. And we all knew he’d have to marry someone when he was eighteen.”

“If I hadn’t run into him the other day this wouldn’t be happening. This shouldn’t be happening.”

“Think of it as a new opportunity at a good life.” My father said reaching towards me.

“No. Don’t touch me.” I snapped pulling away. “The only thing wrong with my life was you.”

My mother put a hand to her mouth letting the tears roll down her cheeks. My father however stayed strong. “You’re leaving in two days.”

“I can’t believe this!” I said running up to my room.

I slammed the door hoping my parents heard. I ripped pictures off my walls, I threw books on the ground, I swiped everything off my desk in a fluid movement of my arms, I chucked my pillows at my door. I finally broke down crying. I slid down the wall and put my head in my hands.

I can’t believe what my parents have done. How could they do this to me? This changes my whole life and I have absolutely no say in it. I won’t even be here in two days. Two days until everything changes.

Wait. That’s it. I have two days until I have to leave. So why not leave now?

I grabbed one extra change of clothes, my toiletries and the only money I had, which was thirty dollars. Alright Sienna let’s see how far this gets you. I tied my sheets together before tying one end to my bed post and throwing the other out the window. My bag soon followed the end of my sheets. I looked around one last time before climbing down my sheets to the ground. I picked up my bag and was about to leave before I caught a glance in the window of my mother and father. They both looked so torn. My father had his arm around my mom. I watched silent tears race down her cheeks.

I can’t think about them right now. I have to think of myself. They made their decision now I was making mine.
