Mallory's POV

"Maybe I just don't want to talk to you."

His words stung like a slap to the face.

I wanted to break down right there and quit. This kid hated me. I played it off as cool as possible, "Okay. I'll see you around."

"Whatever," He said, barely throwing me a glance as he walked back into the house.

I followed close behind, until he walked out the front door and got into a car. Once again, I was at a party full of people I didn't know. This wasn't fun at all.

I walked in the house and began looking around, not sure what else to do. Opening cupboards, looking between the furniture and walls, and checking on top of tall objects. Finally, I found something I could use. A flashlight.

In a matter if seconds, I was outside, running down the street. I wasn't sure where to go. My house was too far to walk to and I didn't have any friends in this area. Although outside probably wasn't my best plan, it was better than that party.

All I could hear was the sound of my quick paced footsteps. I knew track and cross country would come in handy someday. I looked at my phone, it was nearing 12:30 AM. Darkness surrounded everything. The glow of the flashlight shook as I ran, making it hard to focus on my breathing rather than the road ahead. I had forever to run, but nowhere to go.

The next time I looked at my phone, it was 1:30. I had been running for an hour. That realization made me notice how much I was hurting. My legs gave out and I fell to the ground. I stayed right there on the side of the road, not sure what else to do. Then I saw it. My house. I stood up shakily and walked the distance. As I walked in the door, my dog ran up to me barking. He must've been waiting for me.

I grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and sighed. Pulling my chair out, I remembered I left my purse in my friend's car. Damn. Well there goes all of my money. As I got lost in my thoughts, I didn't even realize that I had gone to my bedroom to get an old yearbook. I opened to my class page and scanned the images. There he was. Blonde hair, nerdy glasses, braces. Even though he had just ditched me, I couldn't help but smile.

A.N.

Hey! Sorry it took so long! I had to do a lot of stuff for school lately due to the beginning of the second semester. But anyways, happy birthday to Zayn (and me)!
