CHAPTER SIXafter the unplanned night of getting wasted, hyungwon struggled all throughout his day at school. minhyuk and kihyun managed better, but then again, they don't possess the same level of powers hyungwon does.
they're still mythical, just not as great as the lanky brunette.
as soon as the last bell rang, hyungwon, who usually takes his sweet ass time, bolted out the door, his bag haphazardly packed and slung on his shoulder.
a few papers fell out but the brunette truly didn't give a single shit as he raced through the corridors at an inhuman speed to beat the noise he'd normally wait for to die out. once reaching the front gates he pressed his back on a brick pillar, waiting for kihyun to arrive.
hyungwon's ears rang as he heard students start to file out, his chest heaving in annoyance and exhaustion.
last night was a really bad idea.
finally, a blob of pink was seen through students after around five more minutes of the lanky boy calming his racing heart.
"yo, why do you look all sweaty and just about ready to cark it?" the pink haired boy asked as he finally made his way over to hyungwon, who was still leaning against the pillar for support.
"because i am,"
"fair enough. wanna go now?" he shrugged in understanding, tightening his grip on his bag straps.
"yeah sure. let's get some ice cream on the way."
-
after stopping for their dairy desserts, they found themselves traveling up a slightly grown over dirt path, leading through a forest.
licking the sweet treat, hyungwon looked around. it was a pine forest, one of the many reasons he loved this place. the trees stood tall, emitting a fresh earthy smell, branches were gently swaying as a cool breeze flutters through the growth.
this forest gave hyungwon such an otherworldly feeling as he breathed in the woody sent and took gentle steps to get to the lake. kihyun seemed to feel the same as he breathed a content sigh, a lazy smile on his lips.
"i don't know why we barely come here, this place makes me feel so happy," kihyun uttered out quietly, not wanting to disturb the peaceful atmosphere.
"we should come more often then, if that's the case," hyungwon took another lick from his ice-cream, looking at kihyun to give him a soft smile.
kihyun swore he saw a heavenly glow around hyungwon as he smiled at the pink-haired boy. a blush formed on his round cheeks, and he shyly looked away.
a few moments later they finished their ice-creams, hyungwon handing the rest of his cone over to his friend because he felt full, and an idea popped into the chestnut-haired boys head.
"wanna play tag?" he suggested as they jumped over a fallen down log. kihyun looked around, trying to find a good point to lose hyungwon at and then nodded his head, a mischievous grin appeared on his face, eyes flashing purple.
hyungwon's eyes flashed the same purple colour and before kihyun could even blink, his friend had yelled out 'tag!' it echoing through the dense foliage. hyungwon disappeared by the time his eyes opened again and he looked around in disbelief.
"how the actual fuck are you so fast?" he questioned quietly, turning his head in very direction to try and find a clue on where hyungwon might of gone.
"it's because i'm a god. now come find me!" hyungwon's voice echoed throughout and kihyun almost missed the direction if it wasn't for him catching sight of the brunette hanging from a branch.
"you're not a god you fat lard!"
and with that, the peaceful pine forest turned into one that held laughter and joking insults as the two boys swiftly jumped from tree to tree, floating through the air as they tried to catch one another.
-
"man i wish we brought some food with us," the pink-haired boy sighed as he let his body flop back onto the lakes bank, the grass tickling his neck while his feet were cooled down by the gentle, flowing water.
hyungwon followed his lead, letting his arms, that were supporting his upper body, fall. his head lolled the the side, facing kihyun, and he scrunched his brows.
"is all you think of, food? fuckin' fatass. no wonder i beat you in tag," hyungwon scoffed after his reply.
"i also think of you," kihyun mumbled under his breath. hyungwon heard, obviously, and looked at kihyun once again. the older avoided his gaze as he realised that he'd hear and quickly stuttered out more mumbled.
"i-i, it's not just you though, also minhyuk and-and my, and my mum. yeah," he quickly sat up right, feet now touching the river pebbles that make up the lake. the brunette-haired boy that was still laying down changed it as soon as kihyun had done so.
"kihyun, you do know that i hear a lot of the things you mumble to yourself right?" hyungwon softly asked. he had a feeling the elder liked him but he was never quiet sure, he did also seem quite affectionate with minhyuk.
kihyun visibly stiffened and but tried to play it off cool by forcing a laugh and rubbing his neck.
"ah, really? that's not awkward, not at all...ha," his blushed deepened, but he felt half glad hyungwon couldn't see him, his face probably matched his hair at this point.
"have you, um, perhaps heard things about um, me liking-" kihyun's stuttered got cut off by another voice yelling through the greenery.
"hyungwon!"
the said boy stiffened visibly, eyes burning orange.
"oi! hyungwon!" the voice yelled out again.
his eyes kept burning, kihyun now noticing the annoyance radiating off the boy in waves, saw who stood behind them at the bank of the lake. chest heaving and a bit sweaty.
just as the person was about to call out again, hyungwon whipped around, the water at his feet getting blasted as he jumped out of the lake at a speed no one could comprehend and he landed right in front of the intruder.
they made eye contact, the person who found them stared at hyungwon with a bit of fear.
"what the actual fuck do you want, hoseok?"
