The streets remained busy as Zen made his way back home. With his hoodie over his head and his earphones in he strolled calmly through the rushing streets.

Automatic buses passed In synchronization as they housed no on-board driver. People sat patiently waiting for their bus as Zen passed them. Not one of them interacting.

Zen came past a couple of small shops before he reached the end of high town. His eyes panned over to the other side of the road where he saw the slave trade state.

Outside was heavily barred and fenced off, to prevent any escaping slaves. Zen watched closely as he stopped at the side of the long road. Zen couldn't help but feel bad for the slaves as he seemed to be the only one that cared.

Zen walked slowly across the road in a large group as the traffic stopped perfectly for them. They all headed across the road as people crossed from the other side.

Suddenly a man rushed through the crowd and barged violently past Zen, knocking him to the side. He was dressed in full black and his face was mysteriously covered. Zen turned quickly to see the man who was not stopping to apologize, but instead continued to run away.

"Hey watch where you're going!" Zen yelled as he stood facing the running man.

With a sudden the crowd parted quickly as two Angels rushed passed Zen. They weaved in and out of the large crowd and after the dark man.

Both of the Angels wore their white uniform, a white and black smart suit, with half masks that where identical to one another.

(Zen pov)
Wait angels? That darkly dressed man must have been a.. Demon?
It's the first Time I've ever seen one.
And if the gods send their Angels then it must be serious.

(Normal pov)

Zen felt a feeling of curiosity as he wanted to follow them but he knew getting himself involved with dangerous Angel activity would get him in big trouble.

He quickly decided to drop the idea and continued home. He placed both his hands in his pockets as he entered mid-town. He had a sudden feeling that he was being watched so he turned his head quickly to the top of a nearby roof. He caught a glimpse of a dark figure but only for a split second.

Mid-town was where all middle class citizens lived. His college was held up in High town. Zen had grown used to the streets and knew the fastest way home by foot.

Arriving at his door he was greeted by his stepmother Helen. She had adopted Zen when he was just five years old so Zen had formed a loving bond with her.

My mother owned a small cafe at the bottom of our house. It was small but it had a warm feel to it. I worked with my mother in the cafe on weekends just me and her. I'm surprised she is able to run the cafe all by herself whilst I'm at college.

Their was only one customer in the cafe, a tall male with black hair, glasses, and umbrella and a smart suit. He was always here at this cafe every day so Zen and his mother had grown used to him. But they never caught his name.

She greeted him with a warm hug before letting him take off his shoes. Her hair was ginger and tied in a perfect bun. She was a nice mother and often dreamt of living up in High-town one day. She had high hopes, Zen liked that about her.

"Ok my sweet, dinner is on the table" her voice was loving and kind.

Zen removed his shoes and pulled off his blue hood. He gently removed his earphones as he sat calmly in a chair. His mother chanted a few lines before letting either of us start in our food.

It was a law that all adults have to follow before eating. The words where in a language that was said to be spiritual and only the gods know the full language.

Once she finished she nodded calmly at Zen to show he could start eating. Their food was the same as it was on most days, it was slightly tasteless and hard to chew but it was healthy.

Food was in short supply as the huge wall that provided protection also caused them to be cut off from the rest of the animal inhabited world. Some angels would be sent to retrieve livestock in case of a shortage, but many are lost or killed.

Most of the animal have black meat that is dull and tasteless whereas purple meat which is rich and tender but rare to find. Only the richest that live in High-town get to have purple meat. Which meant zen's food always had dull black meat and a side of glowing salad.

"So Zen how was your day?" She asked politely.

"Well my teacher is sick so we started with a new one called Mr Fenrin, he was different but I liked him..." Zen exclaimed as he paused to eat.

"...And on the way home a dark man ran passed me, he knocked my shoulder without saying sorry!.. And anyway he was being chased by some Angels" he continued.

"Angels Really?" She asked hesitantly.

"Well yeah they were in the uniform and everything, I found them quite curious, I was going to follow them but I chose not to" Zen explained as he finished his meal.

"Zen you know what getting yourself involved will do right? It's bad, you can't give into temptation like that. Curiosity is a sin! it's punishable by death you know!" She said slightly startled and worried.

Zen understood his mother's worrying face as she often found his adventurous nature to get him into trouble. He smiled up at her face for reassurance as he didn't want her to worry about him all the time.

"I understand mother I'm not going to do it again I promise" Zen said trying to reassure his mother quickly.

"Ok well don't ever let curiosity control you ok? If you see any Angel, stay away! If you see a dreaded Demon you run! ok sweet?"

"Ok ok I promise" Zen said as he began to head quickly to his room.

Closing the door behind him he let out a small sigh. He layed his bag on the floor before removing his blue blazer and navy hoodie. He then flung them over the room to his chair. The blazer landed nicely on top where as his hoodie fell to the ground.

Zen looked down as he spotted something had fallen out of his hoodie pocket. It was shiny and resembled a diamond. Zen looked down at it as he didn't recognize it at all.

He grabbed it and began to examine it in his hand. "What's this?" He said in confusion.

Suddenly the gem began to burn in his hand. Causing him to drop it, but he couldn't. It was stuck tight to his hand! Frantically he swung his hand as he tried to get it off.

He gazed down at it as he noticed it disappearing into a glow of light. It's light beamed through his room as he suddenly lost all feeling in his body.
He fell to the ground with a small thud before his Crystal eyes flickered shut.
