I look up from my seat behind the register to see George watching me. Verity, one of the workers, looked at me and smirked. She elbowed my side.
"Seems like you got an admirer," Verity smirked at me as she continued to fill the sample box. Ton-tongue toffee were scattered across the counter. I swiped one off the counter and launched it toward George. He gasp and moved out of the way. His eyes glinted mischievously before returned to filling the shelves.
"Oi!" I shouted, sudden realization striking, "Where's Fred?! Why do we have to work past close but he doesn't!" I pulled back the curtain that hid their office. No trace of Fred was to be seen.
"He's on a date," George said, leaning against the wall. I jumped.
"Don't sneak up on me!" I shook my head before moving past him. I gave him a swift smirk before going to rejoin Verity.
~~~
Several boxes lined the counter. It was ten in the evening by the time we finished. All the box were set and ready for the next several weeks. We had different candies from the snack boxes and miniature versions of our products.
I leaned back and chewed on the tip of the sugar quill. Verity stretched back in her chair as George took his move, commanding his chess piece to move across the game board.
"Blimey, this is as boring as Quidditch," I muttered to myself. Suddenly there was a loud thunk against the front door, making us all jerk our heads up. A small tawny owl was just standing back up from where it had landed. Its hoot was muffled by the glass.
I stood, unlocked the door and grabbed the owl. It dropped the envelope into my palm before flying back out into the night.
        "Who is it?" George asked as Verity chewed her lower lip.
          "Not sure, I don't see any handwriting on the front," I scratched my jaw as I slowly opened to envelope. Lupin had warned us about the owls being intercepted. So, I was careful to open the letter fully before reaching my hand in. The parchment was still slightly wet with ink. Unfolding it, I saw something that made my heart fall.
            "Georgie? We need to go to the burrow," tears stung my eyes as I pulled George out of the store and pulled him close. Albus is dead. The man whom gave me unwavering trust is dead. The world spun and went black before resolving into the dim outline of the burrow against the starry sky. Tonks rushed out of the house towards us.
           "George! Where is your birth mark shaped like a small tree?" Tonks demanded
          George chuckled hesitantly,"My left arse cheek, toward the bottom." His cheeks were bright red as he glanced at me.
            "Elizabeth!" She turned to, trying to hide a smile, "What did Dumbledore request of you?"
           "H-he asked me to kill him. He was already dying," I whispered, not meeting anyone eyes.
          "Oh, Liz, it's okay," Tonks held me as her hair turned a calming purple. I sniffed and smell a calming lavender mixed with explosives and sugar.
           Tonks led us inside. Before anyone could interrogate us, however, she held up her hand. A gesture which was understood by the room that we were who we were.
          "Molly, is he really gone?" My voice broke as I buried my face in Molly's shoulder.
          "Yes, Dumbledore was killed. He fell from the astronomy tower just a bit under half an hour."
        Tonks returned with Fred and Verity behind her. "What happened, Mum?" Fred asked
        "Albus, he was killed. Death Eaters got into the castle. Your father owled before George and Eliza got here. Harry claims he saw Snape do it," Molly shook her head as she busied herself with making tea and sweets for the people present.
         Severus Snape. A man I trusted whole heartedly, killed the only one who never doubted me.
          "When I find that no good greasy git he will PAY!" I said loudly, hitting my fist on the table. I heard bones crack slightly but didn't wince.
