I just stood there still in disbelief. I just started walking and tried to get that thought out of my mind. I just looked straight ahead and didn't even pay attention to where is was going. I was lost, but I could care less right now.
It had been 5 minutes and I seemed even more lost. I just decided to walk until a street crossing came so I would have a little idea to where I was. My legs were trembling. My bare feet were freezing cold. I wasn't wearing my heels because I had no time. I ran out of that place. I was just scared, but the fact that it was so cold outside scared me even more. I noticed a street sign and squinted to see what it said. It was too dark out and it was difficult to see. Shit. My eyes were still tearing up which prevented me from seeing. My vision was slowly getting worse and all I needed was warmth and sleep. I just turned right and continued walking.
No active cars, no people in sight. It was strange, it really was. I usually didn't walk at this time alone. After all that time of walking, I had finally seen the pond which was really close to my apartment. I tried to "fast walk", but I ended up collapsing on the ground. I was just dizzy and I needed a break.
I slowly closed my eyes to rest for awhile. I thought it would be a good idea until I continued my walk that was left. I slowly closed my eyelids until I saw lights through them. I opened my eyes and there was a car stopped right there. I quickly stood up and just stared. The window rolled down and there was a woman signalling me to come to her. I walked to the car.
"Oh my god! Are you okay? Why were you on the ground and where are you headed to?" she said in deep concern.
"Umm. Yeah I'm good. I was just headed to my apartment," I said shivering and pointing down the road to the pond.
"You live in the pond?" she said jokingly.
"Haha no. I live close to it," I reassured her.
"Come. I'll give you a ride. I'm headed that direction too," she said.
"No really. It's okay. I'm not too far away anyways. I can walk," I reassured her.
"Oh come on! I'll get to know you better and I can tell you're really cold," she motioned me to come in and I couldn't resist.
I got into the car and the heat was on. It instantly warmed my blood. I just took a deep breath. I thought everything would be fine, but it really wasn't. The silence suddenly broke.
"So whats your name hun?' she asked.
"It's Carrie. How about yours?" I asked just keep the conversation going.
"That's such a beautiful name. My name is Gina," she said.
"That's such a beautiful name as well," I said and then we started laughing.
She was nice. I really liked her. I was kind of upset that I couldn't talk to her and get to know her more.
I pointed to my apartment and she pulled up right in front.
"Thank you so much. You didn't have to do this."
"Aw. It was nothing. Well anyways, I hope to see you again soon," she said as she motioned a hug.
It was a surprise, but I ended up giving her a hug anyways.
I got out of the car and walked towards the apartment. I turned around and waved and she drove off.
I quickly ran inside and jumped onto my bed. I didn't have time to change into anything comfortable.
I didn't want to think. I wanted sleep.
