Chapter 8: Take Me Home

A WEEK LATER...
Carries POV:

So today is my birthday. I'm 19 today and I feel so old and I'm not ready for whatever is gonna come to me in life.

I had no plans today really. I mean, I don't really have friends. They all have lost contact with me and I don't want to contact them first. So here I am, sitting on my couch browsing Netflix. I came across watching Adventure Time because why not. As I watched I heard Elaine come running from her room to me.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARRIE!" she screamed in my ears as she jumped on the couch next to me and hugged me real tight.

"Thanks for the surprise attack," I said as I hugged her back.

"We're going somewhere really special today. So, be ready by the time I call you." she said.

"What? Where are you gonna be?" I ask.

"I'm gonna be out running errands."

I was so confused but so excited at the same time. I cleaned up the house and made myself some lunch. I wish someone would surprise me and make me lunch, but no. Not even Elaine did that for me. It's okay tho.

I spent most of my day doing nothing really until at around 6. I got a text from Elaine telling me to get ready by 7.

Since today was something 'special', I ended up wearing that black dress that I bought with Jai last week. I bought that dress thinking Elaine would take me out to some fancy restaurant and I would wear it there, but I have a feeling she's taking me somewhere else. With other people there too. I also wore some black pumps, still not knowing where we were going. I kept my hair the way it was. It was put in braids the day before, so my hair looked really nice today. I applied my foundation and set everything off with a powder. I kept my eyes sort of natural looking. I used my naked palette and applied the medium brown all over my lid and blended shimmery and heavy brown on my crease. My lips were nude and I think I looked okay today. I usually don't feel good about the way I look, but today was different. I grabbed my clutch and walked to my lounge and sat there until Elaine contacted me. After about 8 minutes, Elaine texted me to come outside.

I walked outside and into Elaine's car.

"So where we going?" I asked her.

"You're dressed nice today. It looks perfect for todays party."

"You didn't answer my question Elaine."

"To the Brooks house." she answered.

I didn't know what to say to be honest. I was pretty sure it was going to be big since it was a party.

I was right.

We pulled up into the driveway and through the curtains, I saw people dancing and I heard some loud music from outside their house. Woah. Who planned this?

I walked to the door step and approached my hand to knock, but Elaine ended up just opening the door.

I walked in and saw a lot of people. This reminded me of that day. I held hands with Elaine as she walked through the crowds and took me to the kitchen where Jai was standing with a couple of his friends.

"Happy birthday Carrie!" Jai said as he came up to me and hugged me all tipsy.

"Thank you Jai. Who planned this? It's amazing." I yelled through the loud music.

"It was my idea, but I got help from your sister and my bros." he said.

"This is so sweet Jai. I love you. Thanks." I said honestly so happy.
