Chapter 4
I couldn't sleep.
"WHY THE HELL DID HER EYES DO THAT? IS SHE ONE OF MY LONG LOST RELATIVES? IS IT A DISEASE? SHE LOOKED WELL FINE, SO DO I! THIS IS GETTING WEIRDER, WEIRDER THAN I AM."
But later on I did sleep, after playing God Of War 3. Blood gushing everywhere, ripping out centaur guts, killing Greek gods one by one in epic bloodbaths. Ah, my comfort zone. Gore is always my medicine for me to get going. Then, there was a rock that hit my window, nearly breaking the glass. I looked out and another rock came flying, this time it hit my face.
"OMG! So sorry Argo! Ervin here! Yoohoo!" He said while waving his hands up in the air.
"What the hell! It's 2 in the morning! Don't you guys ever sleep?" I yelled, quite annoyed.
"Well, why aren't you asleep then, Mr. Bossypants?" Kal and Korr said in unison.
Only now I realized everybody was there, even Luna, which freaked me out in an instant, because her eyes seem to be glowing. Of course I stared most of the time to Krisafitsa, oh her flaming hair shining through the moonshine, and her mesmerizing emerald eyes even surpassed Luna's death stare.
"Stop it Argo, you just met her for a day, well two days counting this unexpected gimmick" My mind nagged over and over again. "So Boss, you coming down?" Taylor said quite loudly, almost waking up my parents.
"SHUT YOUR FACE MAN! HOW CAN I GO WITH YOU IF YOU WAKE UP MY PARENTS?!?" I replied. I crept slowly towards the stairs, passing my parents room. I heard my dad snoring really loud. Poor mom, how does she sleep? I bet she has earplugs as thick as a basketball, and I hope she does. I reached the end of the stairs and before I knew it there were glowing white eyes staring at me.
"God! You scared the lights out of me! How did you get inside my house!?" I said trying not to shout.
"You left the back door open." Luna said monotonously.
"But there is no back door! What are you talking about?" I whispered, confused.
"Shh shh! Come with me." She said while she pulled me to the front door where everybody was waiting.
"I hope this isn't a cult meeting, or a robbery, or worse..."
Then Krisafitsa came running at me and slammed a hug on my body.
Awkward. Awkward in so many levels.
After what seemed like ages, Alysa interrupted our hug with a Russian accent cough.
"Um, thanks? But we just like met yesterday. Why did you hug me?" I asked.
"What's the matter? I...I think your a cutie." She replied shyly.
I never had a crush, or someone having a crush on me! A guy with jet black hair, not that tall and not too many muscles to be called muscular when I'm just 14? Why would I be liked? There are many fish in the sea? Why catch me in her hook?
I play video games for a living! I like gore and violence! I get straight A's now in mostly everything! I have glasses! I'm a nerd. I'm unsocial. I'm...I'm a guy! Then I looked at Krisafitsa. Wow she's pretty. Then I admitted to myself, I do have a crush. I do have a chance even though I am like this. If some world class hottie would be with me, what are the odds I'm handsome?
Okay. I was getting too far. I stopped the interesting topic from reaching my mind and asked Ervin where in the bloody hell are we going. He kept on telling me it's a secret. Of course I felt uncomfortable, not knowing where he was heading me.
Then I felt it.
It's like you have a tingling feeling on your toes and your hands and a sudden thought that you know this place before, but you just forgot. That's how I felt when we arrived in our destination. It was a cave. Not too far outside the forests, where the town square was placed. It had a waterfall covering the mouth of the cave, the water seemed to sparkle more when we came near it. Amazing. Why have I not seen this before? I lived here for like my whole life and I didn't notice this?
Then I heard a rumbling sound and turned back. There were pulleys and ropes that held trees in the entrance that closed when everybody was inside the cave.
"No wonder why I have not discovered this beauty." I said to myself.
When we stopped in front of a dead end, Paul called me to the front of the group to face the solid stone wall.
"You know what to do." He told me.
"How should I know? I don't know this place!?" I replied sarcastically. Then I felt like something wanted me to say something. Like a force telling me what Taylor was talking about. Then I knew just what Taylor wanted.
"Noctum Dawntos!" I said to the empty wall. For a few seconds it didn't do anything. Then it slowly split in two and revealed...a camp. Not like with tents and outside stuff, but like with a bonfire, a few small cottages here and there, a bar complete with non- liquor drinks, snack dispensers and of course, bathrooms. But what caught my attention was when the embers of the fire led me to look up.
Wow.
It was open. Like a dome that was cut near the top to expose the sky. It was beautiful, I could see the stars, the moon, and fragments of the Milky Way all there right in front of my eyes. A shooting star passed and I made my wish.
"I really like Krisafitsa, let her stay with me." I said quietly.
Then I heard an angelic voice call my name. Was it an angel? Did it come to grant my wish? But then I heard it again and I looked down from the sky. I didn't want to, but I had to. It was Krisafitsa, she was like a few feet away from me. She had her red hair tied up in a bun. I looked closer and I saw...a small scar on her left forehead.
She noticed me staring at it and immediately looked down to the ground. "Snacks are ready. Shock is making Shirley Temples without the alcohol and they are good." She said still looking down.
"Stupid stupid stupid! Now look what I've done! Why did I have to stare at it! Stupid brain! Always too stupid when near girls! I have to do something to make it up for her." I scolded my mind.
Then I did something that I never did before in my whole life.
I went up to her, lifting her chin ever so softly so she can face me, came closer and kissed her forehead. "I don't care about the scar, all I care is that you are alive, and whatever did that to you could be the reason why you won't be here with me." I told her in a gentle voice. Then she hugged me, tighter that before. And this time, I hugged back, wrapping my arms around her and I could hear her crying. She sounded so helpless when she cries. I wanted to cry too but I whispered in her ear "everything is gonna be alright. I'm here...I'm here..."
