Chapter 5
I haven't felt like this in years. The fact that I am hugging a girl right now, comforting her and wanting to stay with her is very new to me, and I like it. We ended our hug and and joined the gang. We ate Nutella and banana sandwiches and Shock's teen Shirley Temple. Damn they were good. Then Paul rang a bell and everybody started to assemble in near the bonfire, making a circle, I followed and sat in between Ervin and Krisafitsa. I wondered if this was a yoga class, or a Duck Goose game, but it was something more interesting. Talk About Your Life Circle, as what Ervin calls it.
"Ohh ohh me first!!!" Ervin said in his jolly voice.
He was actually in a training camp so they can be qualified as military-ready. Wow, they start so early. But during the physical examination, they told him that he was too skinny and weak to join, so he left the camp with a heavy heart. He just stayed in his room trying to get in shape, but nothing happened. He stayed like a toothpick all the time.
Taylor was actually an actor in the TV show Say What? and he was the star. No wonder why he looked so familiar. But everything changed when the company hired a better Taylor, so good that the show shot up and got so popular. They didn't need Taylor Behringer anymore. He stopped being noticed by people as the lead actor in the show, but as the fluke actor that was replaced by a better one.
Kal is actually the twin of Korr, but their mother had an affair with another man while Kal was still forming inside her womb. So when they were growing they exchanged one eye resulting in both of them to have one blue and one green eye. Kal's mother brought him to a rich childless family because she can only care for one. Kal was always left out, everybody talking about his "eye curse" and never had grades near above average. Just like me when I hadn't met Mr. Z.
Korr on the other hand was always happy, but staying with her poor mother was hard. Going to public schools, walking home. All of that was a nuisance. Everybody in the school was awed by his "gift" of 2 colored eyes and his intelligence, always getting straight A's and so on. But always felt something was missing, until he was reunited with Kal, his long lost twin.
Paul was as I suspected, a basketball player in the Spyrex Prime Spirals. He was the star player, always making the calls and the shots, he was their captain. But during their first ever championship game against Jeorgtown, he broke his shooting arm due to a bad fall and had to abandon the game. They lost, and he blamed himself for falling. After recuperating, he tried to enter the team again, but because of his injury, something happened to his arm. He couldn't dribble properly, pass properly and most of all shoot properly. He was booted out of the team with sad looks on his teammates faces. The worse part, the Spirals won championships without him.
Shock's was well, shocking. He was born with his "lightning bolt" mark on his neck and was really proud of it. In school on the other hand, thought it was a tattoo and didn't mind it until high school. Before Shock Indigo, he was Kevin Jamesburn. Son of a famous Fashion family. Once they realized that the birthmark was ruining their image, his mother threatened him that if he didn't remove it, she would disown him. Of course Shock explained that it wasn't possible, but his mom just gave him a knife and told him to cut it off by himself. He ran away and wanted to end his life, he reached the town square where everybody would find him, but in the dead of night nobody would stop him. A couple passing by after a party saw Shock and immediately stopped him and took him in. His old parents never looked for him, so he just stayed with his new mom and dad, the Indigo's. Thus he had the freedom to change his name to Shock.
Alysa really is a Russian, I just thought she was faking. She worked in a moving circus called Straktrov. There she found Alisa Babylon, her best friend and partner. Alysa played with fire, breathing them out and swirling them like the fire dancers while Alisa was canceling them out with her ice cannon that she made. Then their friendship turned sour when they started to debate which one is better. After a while, the ringmaster stopped them and told Alisa that she wasn't needed in the circus, Alysa was more important. Alisa left without her knowing, and she regrets not defending her partner from the ringmaster.
