Chapter 9

Argo

That was the best day of my life!!! The Dream-Between, Zyx Garden, the fireworks, everything was a dream come true! Ironically it was one, a real one. I actually felt...alive for once. All those years playing video games and watching the world pass by not giving a damn was nothing compared to last night. Again, best day of my life!!!

Oh crap, I gotta cram for school tomorrow...

Oh wait! Zack!!!

I checked my phone and sadly, I saw multiple messages and calls not under 10+ times. I totally forgot about our NBA tournament! Oh man! I hope this dosen't affect our friendship.

I got the addresses of all my new friends, or should I say "Dreamers".

Friends. With an "s". I gotta get used to that.

We finally said our "goodbyes" and "see you in school" and worked our way out The Eye. There was a bit of sunlight shining already which meant I gotta hurry. On my way, my mind cleared up all of a sudden and a question popped up in my mind.

Why is Krisafitsa so...flirty?!? I noticed it before, but I never really payed attention. Maybe because she's the first girl I ever talked to and she's a beauty. Yea I played along those times she was to not make it awkward! But I didn't think about my actions. Damn. So what I kissed her forehead? I just did that to sympathize with her. So what I held her hand? Wouldn't you do the same thing if a girl you only met that day suddenly came so close to you and has a tragic background? Maybe yes maybe no I guess. I don't really mind. As long as she doesn't go too far.

I reached my house and slowly creeped up the steps, not trampling on Nick's toys. My room seemed smaller now, maybe because of the Cottages in the Eye and Zyx Garden were so damn bigger than my den.

Wait. What's that sound?

It sounded like a truck. I looked out my terrace facing the road and found a moving van speed away. I saw a car that wasn't there before in the house where the truck probably unloaded it's contents.

Oh yea. Mrs. Seiko the war veteran died. I guess her house went to whoever is there now.

I was extremely curious who was next door. The room to my left. My window faces dead on to the neighboring house, which also has a window facing me, like three feet away from mine.

I sure hope it's not a fat dude! Or worse a gay dude! Or worse an old woman who sings opera and listens to classical music! Well I guess the only thing to do is look. I slowly walked towards my window. Slowly. Walking. Breathing heavily. Curious. Scared. Thinking.

Oh god! It's like opening an unknown present on Christmas, only times 100. I peeked out the window and focused on what lies beyond the other.

Boy was I not ready for what I saw.

She was leaning on the window, facing sideways so I can see half of her face. But she didn't see me. Maybe she was in deep thought. She was beautiful even though she looked sad. Looks like Krisafitsa won't be the only girl that I'll know now, more or less like. Her flawless face, her striking brown-red hair, and her lips, oh how they tremble. I knocked on my window, hoping she would hear it from there. She slowly looked up until our eyes met.

If you haven't seen her eyes, you haven't lived. They were...a beauty of nature itself. I couldn't describe how awestruck I am, more or less describe he eyes. They were a mix of my two favorite colors: blue and green.

Teal? Yes. Cyan? Ohh that sounded even better.

I knocked on her window, stretching my arm. She just stared at me with her mouth open, like she's seen a ghost. I stared at her back too, absorbing all the beauty, the feeling that a girl was right next door.
