What's up, KH fans? Welcome to the new year! I'm kanoland94, Kyle Noland, and this is Kingdom Hearts Interview! Woo!
I'm so excited because the next author I interviewed is a one-shot collector. (One-shots are short stories.) In Wattpad, one-shots are the golden tickets to become a Wattpad Star or being noticed by someone famous, a book club, or a curtain fandom talk-about magazine, like @KHMagazine.
All one-shots come from different styles and genres such as: using RP dialogues and turning them into a story; a random book that makes a parody by starting a conversation with a first verse from your favorite song; and fandom pairings hook-up at a motel room and--
(Okay, that's a bad example for using a mature context.)
But for iam_thenerd, he writes his stories with old fashion brainstorming. About three years ago, he started writing his KH one-shots. So far, he has written sixteen one-shots in his collection.
The collection of one-shots he's written contains different writing styles and attention grabbers.
One one-shot I recommend to you is a musical parody sung by Vanitas Ventus's alter ego and his boyfriend in the story. Vanitas keeps knocking on Ventus's door bugging him to let him in. What makes this skit hilarious is that Vanitas annoys him with a song was from Frozen. Yup! Vanitas ask Ventus if he wants to Build a Keyblade.
Q: "Why did make a parody that is based of Frozen's song Do You Want to Build a Snowman? Was it your idea or was it your cousin's idea?"
A: "My cousin and I were bored and frozen had just come out so we had the songs stuck in our heads. We're both fans of KH so we just thought it would be fun to make a parody. And originally it was my cousin's idea."
Do You Wanna Build A Snowman was one of @iam_thenerd's inspirations. His first one takes me way back to his first one-shot. Inspired by A Great Big World's song, he dedicated this short story, to not just them but for the joy of *********
Q: "You add Great Big World's Say Something lyrics to your one-shot that represents their song. First of all, that is the brilliant and breathing taking. Second, why made you decide to plot a one-shot that was inspired by the Say Something song?"
A: "At the time Say Something was favorite song and I had been listening to it while playing one of the KH games and inspiration just struck me."
The difficult part about using or writing about popular or today's song for inspiration is asking the artist's permission to use the song.
Q: "On the Sleeping Prince story, you found an original song that was made by YouTube singer and it's fits perfectly to Ventus's melody. What made you thought about adding this particular song to your one-shot and did you ask Lizz's permission to used it in your one-shot?"
A: "I loved the song so much and it inspired the one shot so I just had to include it. I did ask for permission however I never got response. I know I probably shouldn't of used the song since I didn't get permission but I did give credit to the YouTuber."
While keeping the first eight one-shots Kingdom Hearts-related and focused on its pairing, the last eight one-shots are focuses on romance between Kingdom Characters and OCs.
Q: "What made you thought about OC date or battle KH characters?"
A: "I had seen a lot of other one shot books allow readers to request a one shot of them and character so I decided to do that as well."
Q: "What made you decide on writing the last few one-shots that is not related to KH stories and focuses on KH characters and OC in a real life setting?"
A: "The last few were based on requests and I couldn't see them happening in the KH world so I wrote it in the real life setting."
That's pretty much all I can tell about @iam_thenerd but there is one thing that kept me thinking about one-shots.
Q: "You mention to your readers that you will write Mature KH one-shots if it was mention above that particular one-shot. So far, you haven't wrote any mature KH one-shots. Have you ever thought about writing Mature KH One-shot?"
A: "No I haven't really thought about writing a mature one. I probably will never write something rated mature. I only ever said that to put it as an option for readers."
Well, that's all, folks! Please follow @iam_thenerd and read his Kingdom Hearts one-shots when you have the chance.
Thank you so much for taking the moment to read this interview! I hope you all enjoyed this rather short one!
