The heat in the kitchen kept my bare legs warm as I moved around trying to make dinner later that night. Carter had an important business call to make and retreated to the office a little after seven to deal with it. I agreed to make us both dinner so we could just spend tonight together and sort of celebrate the fact that Kathy will no longer be a problem for us both.

The silver clock on the wall across from where I stood by the island, read seven forty-three and I was now putting the final touches to the two bowls of spaghetti I managed to make since entering the kitchen. I didn't hear Carter come into the kitchen when I place a few pieces of parsley on top of each bowl of food. I only feel his hands grip the ends of his white shirt I wore and slowly pull it up so his hands to sit on my hips.

"My shirt really does look better on you," Carter whispers into my ear.

I smile at his comment before his places his lips on my neck. "As does most of your clothes."

"I'm not trying to sound rude but do we have to eat? I would much rather take you up stairs and have my way with you again."

"Was it not you who got on at me for skipping lunch today?" I remind him.

"It was but I think we can do better things with our time."

His hands move from their position on my hips and move to rest flat on my stomach which causes my to back up into him.

"Stop it," I giggle. " Your hands are cold."

"The heat from your skin will heat them up then."

I let go of the parsley I still held in my hands and turn in Carter's hold to face him. I place my hands on his bare chest and smile up at him. "If you're not careful, I will cut you off."

"How would you then get the baby we both want? You can't cut me off," he smirks.

"Carter, the way you are going right now, you are about to remove this shirt from my body."

"Point being?"

"Do you not remember what I said I would do to your Audi?" He hesitates for a moment then drops his hands away from under the shirt. "Thought you'd do that."

"You have a mean streak, Mrs. Romero."

"And you have sly and cheeky streak, Mr. Romero."

"Must be why you love me so much."

"No, it's really not."

"What is it then?"

"It's nothing to do with looks but they are an added bonus."

"Tell me what it is."

"You go after what you want and you don't let anyone stand in your way. You're a strong, thoughtful-"

Carter smiles and places his hands on my waist. "Why Mrs. Romero, you are making me blush."

I laugh lightly. "And most of all, you're a kind man with a kind heart. You treat me like a princess and that's how every woman should be treated. You show me your true self and not the businessman everyone else sees."

"I would never hide my true self from you," Carter whispers, his eyes staying hooked on mine so I knew he wasn't lying. "Just like I know you don't hide your true self from me."

"I never have," I confirm.

"When you're in your business mode, you wear a mask that doesn't give anything away. You're strong and don't take shit from anyone. You turn into a fierce lioness and I can only stand by and admire you in all your beauty when you become her. It's a beautiful sight for me to see."
