The words rung throughout her head like a bell. It couldn't be true. She wasn't anything special. She didn't have powers. She was even raised by a mortal family! There must have been some kind of mistake.

"No, I'm not. You're wrong." Iris spoke. Her voice was silvery, becoming light at the sudden surprise.

"Do you really think I'd make this up?"

Iris considered the circumstances. She didn't think so, not really. She shook her head.

Tarek spoke yet again, matter-of-factly. "I've talked to your parents. They say it's okay for you to come with me, if that is what you wish."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that the longer you stay here, the more dangerous it will become for you. You see, there are other gods and the sort that hate us. They will try to attack you at every turn. It's recommended that you come with me, to a place where you will be safe."

"But what about my friends?"

"Do not worry, you will be able to visit them whenever you wish, just not too often. You can message them, also."

"Alright. I'll go."

"Good. Shall we head out now then?"

"Can I just say goodbye to everyone first?"

Iris went over to her friends, and explained the situation. She said her farewells, and went to leave.

"Wait!"

Iris turned, only to see her best friend, Victoria, by her side. She handed her a small box.

"I meant to give this to you today, after the festival. Since you're leaving, you can take it now."

Iris gave her thanks, and departed, heading away to her new life. She hoped it would be just as good as the first.
