The Newcomer

Chapter 5

Hyun's expression was of pure shock, while Areum looked embarassed and scared at the same time.
The man made a hiss of annoyance.

- Who the hell do you think you are, girl? - The man said to Hyun, taking a step forward.

Hyun was frightened, making her unable to move at all. She was sweating and tears were about to fall from her eyes.
"I can't move. I'm too scared. What's going to happen to me? Is he going to hit me? Why is someone like him with Areum?", Hyun's head was filled with scary thoughts while the man slowly got closer and closer to where she was.

- I think it's better if you don't take anymore steps towards her, pal. - A manly voice said, coming from behind Hyun.
Suddenly, she felt someone gently grab her arm and pull her back, leaning her against someone's chest. Another hand covered her eyes, but Hyun couldn't make a single move against it, for she was so scared of everything that was happening. Yet, those firm hands that were holding her didn't scare her, but gave her a feeling of comfort. Warm, large hands that screamed "You're safe now."

- What is this, a party? Who are all these people? - The man said, taking a few steps back. - Whatever man, I'm outta here.

Hyun could hear the man's footsteps getting farther away, until there were no more. The hand that was covering her eyes gently lifted away and she opened her eyes. She turned around and saw EXO's Lay and Chen, Chen being farther back with Dae-Jin who was holding Areum Gi, who was looking at the floor, embarassed. The person who held Hyun had been Lay.

- Are you alright? - He asked.

Hyun was speechless, she was still shaking from everything that had happen only few minutes back. Before she could even try to speak, tears started to fall from her eyes.

- ... No. - She said right before she started sobbing, trying to keep the tears from falling with her fingers, even tho it was useless.

Lay was surprised by her reaction.

- H-Hey, don't cry. It's over now. - He tried to comfort her, but it wasn't working as well as he'd hope. He putted his hands on her shoulders, slightly shaking her up. Hyun's tears stopped falling for a second, as she looked up at him.

- It's okay, nothing happened to you. You're fine, and your friend will be too. - Lay said.

And that's when Hyun remembered - Areum Gi was the real victim here. She quickly walked over to Chen, Dae-Jin and Areum, standing in front of her, reaching her hands out to her. She grabbed Areum's shoulders and hugged her, still crying.

- I'm so sorry, Areum. - She began to say. - He was a real jerk. I can't believe that actually happened to you.

Hyun's words shocked Areum so much, tears from her eyes began to fall aswell. She clenched her teeth, trying to hold them back, but it was no use. She was crying her heart out. Chen and Dae-Jin were looking at them, both smiling.

But suddenly, Areum pushed Hyun away.

- Shut up! You don't know me! - She screamed, trying to gain balance. She hurt her ankle when that man pushed her. - Leave me alone! - She screamed once more before leaving in a fast pace, as well as she could. The four of them saw her get in a cab and disappear.

Dae-Jin rushed to Hyun's side, hugging her.

- I was so scared for you, Hyun. Don't do something like this again, please.

Her words were very touching to Hyun. She hugged her back.

- I'm sorry, Jin. I promise. - She replied before both let go.

She turned around to look at Chen and Lay. She then remember that she had just cried in front of both of them and felt really embarassed.

- My name is Bora Hyun. I'm sorry for the trouble I've caused you both, oppas. - She said, bowing to them.

- It's no big deal. When Dae-Jin called, we came as fast as we could. - Lay replied.

Hyun quickly looked at Jin with eyes who screamed "You called them?!".

Jin laughed. Then, she turned to Lay and Chen and bowed.

- Thank you so much for your help, Lay-oppa, Chen-oppa. We're very thankful. - Jin said. Hyun bowed after her.

- You're the newcomer right? Who fainted earlier at the company's event? - Chen said, suddenly, looking at Hyun.

- Y-Yes... - She replied, shy. "Way to make a good first impression, Hyun.", she thought.

- So, you're the one's who are staying at the same hotel as us. We'll take you there.

- N-No, it's fine oppa, thank you for your kindness. We'll be fine. - Jin said, waving her hands in a way of saying no. Hyun nodded in agreement.

Lay approached Jin and stood close to her. He pinched her cheeks in a playful way.

- You're being rude in declining your oppa's suggestion! Oppa knows best! - He laughed.

- Ow, ow, fine, we'll go with you! Please let go of my cheeks, oppa. - Jin faked a cry playfully.

Hyun was shocked with their interaction. They seemed so close, she felt flustered to the point she felt her cheeks getting red. "They look so cute...", she thought. Without her noticing, Chen was staring at her, smiling at her reaction. He was trying to hold his laughter, but it wasn't working very well. Only then did Hyun noticed Chen looking at her.
Seeing him laugh made her realise she really was red. She putted her hands on her face, trying to cover it, embarassed.

- Red looks good on you. - Chen laughed.

Hyun turned to him with a curious look. "Is he messing with me?", she thought. He was smiling at her. They locked eyes for a few seconds. "Aaaa, he's really handsome.", she thought, quickly looking away from him, embarassed.
She heard him take few steps closer to her. She turned her head towards him slowly.

- They're leaving without us, you know? - He said, smiling.

- No way! - She quickly looked around, taking her hands off of her face, looking for Lay and Dae-Jin. They were heading to Lay's car. She heard Chen laugh.

- Your face is still red! So cute. - He said, laughing.

Hyun made an angry-ish face at him, which he also thought to be cute. She hurried to Lay's car and Chen followed.
