The Newcomer

Chapter 7

AUTHOR'S NOTE
Ever since Chapter 0 I've been calling the place where the main characters live (Hyun, Jin and EXO) a hotel because I wasn't remembering the word I actually wanted to use, which is dorm. I will be using it from now on. I'm so sorry for this confusion!

Hyun was wrapped in a blanket, sitting on her bed. Jin brought her some soup.

- Here, eat up. - She said with a smile.

It was morning, and Hyun had caught a cold due to staying outside for so long with Chen, since both of them fell asleep. When Jin woke her up, it was already morning and Chen had left.

- Thank you. - She replied, sneezing afterwards.

- Seriously, what were you even doing outside by yourself?

Hyun looked down, blushing. Her face was already red so Jin couldn't tell the difference.

- I wasn't... Chen-oppa was there.

- Really?! - Jin was surprised. She slowly got closer to Hyun. - ... Did you do it? - She whispered.

- What are you thinking? Don't be stupid, you! - Hyun said, playfully hitting Jin's shoulder, gently pushing her.

- I was kidding, kidding! - Jin replied, laughing. - But how did that happen?

- I couldn't sleep, so I went outside to catch some fresh air. Turns out Chen was the same, so he came over. - Hyun replied.

Jin sat down next to her with her arms crossed. - Seriously, I don't know how you do it. All of EXO's members will eventually fall for you!

- Don't be silly, Jin! - Hyun tried to stand up but Dae-Jin pulled her by her arm back to bed.

- Stay put. You're lucky we're not meeting with our manager today. You need to get better quickly! - Jin scolded.

A sudden knock on the door caught their attention. Jin slowly walked over to it, opened it slightly and took a glimpse. She then looked over to Hyun, exchanging looks, and back at the door, opening it completely so that the person that was behind it could enter.

Hyun, still sitting on her bed with a confused look, couldn't take her eyes off of the door. The suspense that only lasted a few seconds ended as Kai walked through the door. Hyun was very surprised, to say the least.
Jin and Kai bowed to each other.

- Did I come at a wrong time? - Kai asked. He was staring at Hyun.

Hyun couldn't look Kai in the eyes. She kept remembering what happened at the hospital and the way he spoke to her. "He's still angry, for sure. Now he's here to scold me some more.", she thought.

- Not at all. I was just about to leave for... uh, some... groceries. It might take a while, but make yourself comfortable. - She smiled forcefully as she felt Hyun's stare of hatred on her skin for leaving the two of them alone.

She left, grabbing a coat and bowing once more to Kai, waving goodbye to Hyun, who was still glaring at her with killer eyes.
Kai and Hyun were now alone in her room.

- ... How are you? - Kai asked after a few seconds of silence.

Hyun looked up at him, and then back at the floor.

- I'm fine. - She said, coughing a little right after. Kai's expression quickly turned into one of worry.

- You don't look fine... Are you sick? - He said, approaching her.

Hyun was intertwining her fingers on top of her lap, looking down.

- It's just a little cold, that's all. - She said, quietly.

Kai let out a sigh while placing his hands on his hips. Then, he slowly walked over to her and sat next to her, looking down at his hands.
He looked at her and made a small smile, placing his hand on top of Hyun's. She slowly lifted her head until their eyes met.

- I'm sorry for the way I spoke to you, Bora. I was so worried about you, it came out the wrong way... - He gently squeezed her hand, placing it in between both of his hands.

Hyun's heart was racing, Kai was sitting so close to her. His hands felt warm and cozy wrapped around hers. They were looking straight into each other eyes, without saying a word. They stayed that way for a few seconds until Hyun decided to break the silence.

- Why... Are you here? - She asked, quietly.

He smiled. - I wanted to see you. Honestly, since we met at the dorm's entrance, I couldn't get you out of my head at all...

"There he is again, making my heart skip a beat with his beautiful smile and his beautiful words.", Hyun thought as she heard him.

- I- I had no idea... - Hyun sai flustered, looking to her sides. She didn't know how to properly reply to that.

Kai couldn't help but let out a wide smile seeing her like that. He looked at the floor, blushing because of what he had just said.

- I... Actually, also came here for something else. - He said.

Hyun looked at him surprised. - W- What else?

He looked a bit more serious this time. - I wanted to know if you'd like to have dinner with me tonight. You know, to make up for what I did.

Hyun's mouth opened slightly in surprise, her face red as a Christmas decoration. EXO's Kai was inviting her to have dinner with him, and this time, she wasn't dreaming.

- I- I... - She stuttered.

- Please, say yes! I really do feel bad about what happened. - Kai made puppy eyes, squeezing Hyun's hand once more.

She hesitated for a few seconds before replying. - O- Okay, I'll go! - She smiled, shy.

Kai smiled widely. - Great! It's a date.

His expression changed as soon as he finished that sentence to one of shock, and the same thing happened to Hyun. He covered his mouth with his hands, as if he were wishing he didn't say that out loud.

- F-... Forget that. - He said, standing up with his back facing Hyun to hide his embarrassment.

Hyun, looking down at the floor, she was too embarassed to say anything. They stood in an awkward silence for what seemed like forever.

- So... - Kai broke the silence. -  I'll come pick you up at 7pm.

- O- Okay. - She quickly replied.

- See you later, Bora. - He smiled at her before leaving.

When he closed the room's door, he was startled by Dae-Jin, who was also startled, and was standing next to the door, looking like someone who'd just been caught eavesdropping.
She made an awkward smile and quickly bowed to him as he slowly walked away from the door so she could enter it.

Jin quickly entered while bowing and shut the door as soon as she could, standing behind it, letting out a big sigh. Hyun was staring at her with a curious look.
