The Newcomer

Chapter 1

Hyun looked to her side and she couldn't believe her eyes.

EXO's Xiumin was standing next to her, leaning against the elevator's wall, hands on his pants' pockets, charmingly smiling at her.

- Are you by chance a newcomer? Congratulations on joining the company. - He was very polite and nice.

Hyung tried to hide her blushing and looked at the floor - Y-Yes. I just got here really...

- Is that so? - He got a little bit closer to her, not leaning on the wall anymore, with a happy face. - Perhaps I should show you around?

Hyun was really caught off guard with his offer, looking at him surprised, but quickly looking back at the floor.

- N-No, really, there's no need to...

- Hm... Are you sure? - He stepped a little closer to her once more, making her slightly stepping farther from him.

She bowed her head to him - Thank you so much.
She had reached her level, so she left. She looked back after taking a few steps out of the elevator and saw Xiumin waving and smiling at her, leaning against the wall once more, while the door closed.

She shook her head and looked ahead, stopping in front of the CEO's office. He had appointed a meeting with her and she was just on time.
She took a deep breath, taking her hand to her chest, trying to calm her energetic heart.

"You are Bora Hyun. You will be okay.", she thought to herself. "Fighting."
As she finally entered the CEO's office, she didn't realise there had been someone watching her from afar.

- Excuse me... - Hyun said while entering the office, looking at the floor.

Her heart was pounding. She could hear the voice of a man speaking loudly and firmly. She lifted her head slightly and saw the CEO speaking on the phone, looking through the window. He was about to turn her way.

- ... I want it by Monday, Sun Gi! Or else. - He hang up looking angry while turning to Hyun, realising she was there. He then smiled.

- Oh, hello Miss Bora, welcome. I was not aware you were there. Come in, sit down.

She did so, still looking down. After sitting down, she looked at him, trying to be polite.

- I hope you had a nice trip. I know you don't live very closely. - He said.

- Yes, it went well, thank you.

- So, we have already arranged everything for you making this an unofficial meeting since it wasn't necessary. We just wanted to know first hand that you arrived safely. - He smiled.

- Thank you for taking care of me. - She smiled back and bowed her head.

- We have a car waiting for you outside that will drive you to our hotel, which isn't too far from here. If you need anything, I have already left a few "emergency" numbers you can call.

He stood up and took a few steps.

- Miss Bora, as you already know, you are debuting this month. It is something very important, and a big achievement. Congratulations.
I hope you won't let us down. - He was serious, but still smiled.

- I will do my best, you have my word. - She replied, proud.

- Great. A person's word is everything, Miss Bora. That is something worth remembering. - He smiled at her one last time before she left.

She entered the car that'd take her to her hotel where she'd be staying for quite a while.
Looking outside the window, she saw a group of people coming out of a black van, all wearing masks and dark-colored cardigans, surrounded by security guards, paparazzi and what seemed to be fans, screaming for them.
By chance, Hyun met eyes with one of them, and felt like she'd seen him before. They exchanged looks for what seemed to have been many minutes, but in reality the car she was in passed by them too fast, so she got only a glimpse.

- Woah, this is a big list of "emergency" numbers.

Hyun had already arrived at her hotel and was unpacking when she found the emergency numbers' list the CEO had spoken of.

"It even has takeaway...", she thought to herself.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed. It was the company.

"Miss Bora, be ready to leave in two hours. There is an event happening at the company's main building. Makeup and clothing should be arriving soon. Best regards."

- This is so sudden! - Hyun was shocked. - That CEO guy couldn't have told me about this?!

The bell rang suddenly.

"Are you for real?!", she rushed
to the door and took a peek. It was the makeup and clothing staff, there to get her ready for the event.

"Okay.", she thought while taking a deep breath, "You are Bora Hyun, stay calm. This is your life now. You want this."

She opened the door and they greeted each other politely.
Hyun wasn't used to wearing makeup nor wearing dresses. But there she was, getting all dolled and dressed up.
One hour later and she was ready. Thankfully, she knew how to walk perfectly in high heels.

She looked amazing. She couldn't believe that was her, staring at her own reflection.

- Miss, you look beautiful. - One of the staff said to her.

- Thank you so much... - She replied politely, flustered. She didn't think very highly of her appearance either.

By the time she was at the hotel's front, there was no sigh of the car that was supposed to pick her up.
Ten minutes passed by, and still nothing. Hyun was starting to get really nervous.

- I'm not gonna make it. Where's the car? I can't believe I'm missing my first event in the company... - Hyun felt her eyes getting watery.

- I can't believe I'm missing an event that's in my honour.

A sudden voice made her jump of surprise. She looked to her side and saw a very handsome man, very well dressed too.
Until she realised who it was.

- E-E-EXO's Kai?!

He laughed at her reaction - What was that? Why are you so surprised to see your new colleague? - He smiled, tilting his head slightly.

- Afterall, now we work for the same company, right? You're the newcomer.

Hyun felt really confused and excited at the same time. Looking down, she wondered, how did he know all this? And why was he here?

- Y-Yes, all that is correct but... May I ask - She looked up at him with sparkly eyes due to all the adrenaline she was feeling. - Why are you here too?

He laughed, again. He was a very cheerful person - Seems like there's a lot of traffic tonight. Both our cars are stuck there.

Hyun looked down at the floor, sad. She couldn't believe she really was going to miss the event.
Kai saw the look on her face and felt uneasy.

- Hey. - He said, waving his hand in front of her face so she'd look at him. - Does the newcomer have a name?

Hyun giggled - Yes. My name is Bora Hyun.

- That is a beautiful name. - he smiled.

Then, he looked at someplace behind Hyun, farther away for a few seconds. His expression changed to a more pensative one. - ... Hey, I just had an idea!

- Really? - Hyun looked surprised - What is it?

- I know a way to get us in time to the event. Are you in?

- You haven't told me what it is yet. - Hyun giggled.

- Just trust me on this. - He reached out his hand to her, smiling widely - Okay, Princess Bora?

She hesitated for a second, looking at his hand. Then, she looked at him and smiled.

- Okay. - She gave him her hand and she quickly felt him pulling her and running towards something.

She was trying to understand what exactly he was running to, but she quickly realised what he meant when they stopped in front of...

- A bicycle?!
