"We did it!" Anna cheered, as her and Castiel raised their glasses. "We're graduating!"
After finishing their drinks, Castiel and Anna moved towards the dance floor. "To celebrate graduation, there's two things we need to do- drink, and get laid. So, see anyone?" Anna was always more of a social person than Cas had been. There's no doubt in Cas' mind that Anna will get those two things done. Cas, on the other hand, was unsure.
"I don't know, I'm really excited too. But I'm just not as good at talking to people as you are." Cas said, looking around at the many people around him.
"Oh, come on. You can do this." Anna put her hands of Cas' shoulders reassuringly.
Cas and Anna had known each other pretty much all of college. They were in the same history class their first year there. Anna had introduced herself and sat down next to Cas on the first day, and ever since that moment they had become instant friends. Anna had actually asked Cas out once or twice, but Cas just said that Anna wasn't his type.
Cas kept looking around, a bit overwhelmed by all the people at the club. What Anna didn't realize is that it was pretty likely that nobody in the club was his type. Cas hadn't told anybody, even Anna, that he was gay. To be fair, all the attractive men in the room already had women swarming around them. At least that's what he thought. All the men Castiel would've been interested in were talking to women, except for one. In the corner of the room, a guy standing alone caught his eye. Cas turned to Anna, who was already talking to a guy of her own, "I think I'm gonna go talk to someone, wish me luck..." Cas was pretty sure Anna didn't even hear him.
Cas began walking over to the stranger. He was terrified. His legs were a bit shaky, but Cas was unsure whether that was from nerves or the alcohol. But, instead of in front of the guy, Cas found himself staring at the stranger from a bar stool. "Can I get you something?" The bartender asked, shaking Cas out of his trance.
"Um.. yes, actually. Two of your best beers."
"You sure? Kind of expensive."
"Yes."
......................
Cas slowly started towards the stranger, two expensive beers in hand. He was nervous, but hopeful. What if he wasn't into Cas? What if he wasn't into men at all? What if Cas makes a huge fool of himself? He tried to push these thoughts out of his mind and approached the stranger. "Uh, hi.. I'm Castiel." The stranger looked at him, a bit confused.
"I'm Dean."
Cas blushed and attempted to smile as he remembered the beers. "Oh, um, here. For you." He handed Dean the beer and took a small sip of his own.
"Really?" Dean took a drink and looked at Cas with wide eyes. "Is this Samuel Adams Utopia? No way. I can't take this."
"Why not? I gave it to you." Cas was a bit confused. He realized he wasn't even sure how much he paid for the beers.
"Well, first of all they're $150 per bottle."
"Come on. I insist." Cas said, taking a sip. This beer was actually the best Cas had ever had, not that he had tried that many types. To be fair, it wasn't worth the hefty price.
After a moment of silence, Cas managed to speak up. "So, I'm guessing you know a lot about beer. You were able to guess what kind this is."
"Well," Dean started. "The bottle says what kind it is. So I didn't really guess. But I guess I know more than the average person. Like how ridiculously priced this bottle is. But, I will say, this is one damn good bottle of beer.""It is." Cas agreed.
Cas dosed off for a minute, admiring Dean. He was tall, probably about six foot. He was lean but muscular. His eyes were greener than the leaves of summer, with little flecks of yellow throughout. Dean was wearing a tight black t-shirt and a navy blue and white flannel. The sleeves were a bit tight, and you could tell his arms were quite muscular. His jawline was sharp and he had a bit of stubble. Dean had brown hair, which was just a bit messy. And his lips looked smooth, Cas dreamed of having them pressed against his own lips.
Cas snapped out of his day dream after a few seconds, and saw Dean staring back at him.
"So?" Dean said, it seemed like he had repeated himself.
"Hm? Oh. Sorry, what did you ask?" Cas asked, and he could feel his whole face turning red.
"I Just asked you to tell me about yourself. What are you into?" Dean asked as he leaned in a little bit closer.
"Me? Well, there's not much to know about me."
"Come on, there's gotta be something. Do you have any passions? Any interests at all? What about family?"
"Well... I never really knew my mother. But I do have a lot of siblings." Castiel thought for a moment. What is there to really know about him? "Oh. I'm really into mythology and lore. Mythical creatures and stuff. It's all really interesting to me. But, I actually just graduated from Stanford. I'm thinking of going into law."
"Wow. That's... something." Dean said, eyes wide.
"Yeah... What about you?" Cas asked. Dean seemed so interesting. He just wanted to know everything there is to know about Dean.
"We seem to have a few things in common actually. You never knew your mother, my mother died in a house fire when I was young..." Dean said, stopping for a moment.
"I'm so sorry, Dean."
"Yeah.. but I moved around all the time for my Dad's work. I practically raised my little brother myself... Anyway, I don't need to tell you about my childhood... But I also find lore and all that interesting. You seem to know more than I would, but I'll be honest. I do enjoy reading lore every now and then."
"Oh, really?
"Yeah. But my real interest is probably cars. When my dad passed, he gave me his 1967 Impala."
"Oh that's cool."
....................
After talking to Dean for about an hour, Cas just had one question that was killing him. He didn't want to be too straight forward, though. Cas wasn't even sure if Dean was into guys. What if Dean just thought Cas was being friendly? He could just come out and ask. Ok, he could do this. "Are you gay?" Cas blurted out.
Dean chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. "Uh, you could say I'm into guys, yeah."
Cas sighed in relief. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be that blunt."
"That's okay, really." He laughed. "At least that's out of the way. Um, I guess it's my turn to be blunt." Dean slowly took Cas' hand into his. "Do you wanna take this somewhere more... private?"
