An early morning sun had broken through the clouds
Caught sight of an unearthly beauty
Perhaps a tinge of envy had seized her for she called a challenge
"Cast what beauty you possess forth for none shall shine brighter than I!"
Promptly rays were propelled, they bounced lively across pale blue
spilled over our empty gravel roadsYou smiled in the face of her radiance
One ray touched your eyes, it kissed them golden for a breath
Then the second and the third till I'd lost countTwo red agate flared with a fierce flame.
Sent sparks twirling in an unintentional acceptance
I almost reached to touch them
But I feared you'd close the show
Your eyes were fully aware of their blinding brilliance and so was the sun
She frantically grasped for each spark with arms outstretched
Nothing could be brighter than you at this momentWhen the old man lights his pipe and the smoke conceals the once aggressive light
Your magnificence will not ceaseSoul had come to surface
Beauty such as this is timeless.
