Emilia had seen Myles looking up at her window. She was pacing her room, trying not to think about him. She still couldn't come to terms with the fact that he was her half brother. She never even knew, and it toor her in half. She didn't know why, she should have been happy, but she was angry. Not only at her father, but also at Myles for not telling her sooner. She knew it had only been a week but she wished he had told her right away. It would have made everything so much easier with Myles. It was early morning when Emilia decided to get out of the house and into the water. Sleep wouldn't come to her so she had to do something to pass time until she had to work. The water always calmed her. Of all the places she'd been, the beach was by far her favourite. She loved the salty breeze that always rolled off the ocean and the way the water always came back to brush a kiss on the shore, no matter how many times it got sent it away. Emilia loved that concept, it solemnly connected her to the past thousand years she lived. Paddling farther out than she'd been before, she let her mind slip to Rhys. She couldn't understand how his smile was open, radiant and mysterious all at the same time. It was as if he was saying 'you're welcome to talk to me, but you won't get much'. Emilia wanted to figure him out and she wasn't getting anywhere by floating around all day on her board. She sat up and looked for a wave to catch in. It was flat, not a single wave. Emilia was ready to paddle back in but she felt a shift in energy. She laid back down and turned her head to the side as a girl with fiery red hair paddled up beside her. The girl turned her board around so the front was facing the side of Emilia's.

"I saw you at here and you looked lonely." The girl commented. She was very beautiful. Her fiery, bouncy curls reached halfway down her chest and made her blue eyes, that were the colour of twilight, glow. She had dark freckles that spread over her nose and rosey cheeks. Her pale skin contrasted easily with her pastel pink lips, and when she smiled, two small, round dimples showed in her chin.

"There's plenty of company here." Emilia said gesturing vaguely at the water around her. The girl laughed, only a small amount of hummer etched its way in.

"Don't be silly. My name is L-"

"Lilias." Emilia cut in, her tone flat and uninterested. Lilias sat with her mouth still open, the last of her sentence unsaid.

"How did you know my name?"

"School." Emilia simply said. That wasn't a lie, she only knew her name because the girl was in the school. Emilia knew the girl remembered briefly meeting her. Emilia dipped right into her head without hesitation. It was harder to pull apart her thoughts, to hear and see them, than with humans. Either Lilias had practice against Emilias gift or she was something other than human. Emilia guessed both. Emilia found her way to Lilias's thoughts and gently started pulling them apart, like cotton candy. Emilia had years and years of practice of seeing into peoples minds. She could do a swift job of slipping into their minds, separating their jumbled thoughts for her to see and hear, putting them all back in place and exit without a trace. All within a second. I'm going to tell her. I don't care what they think of me. I'm not their pet.

Emilia let on a little smirk. Lilias's thoughts confirmed Emilia's guess. Emilia sat up and spun her board around to face Lilias, setting her elbows on her board she rested her chin on her hands and grinned.

"Okay, Emilia I'm going to tell you this." Lilias started. "It may come as a shock to you but...I don't know any other way to tell you then to come strait out about it with you-why are you looking at me like that?"

Emilia's grin stretched wider. "Like what?"

"Like that! Like you know exactly what I'm..." Lilias trailed off. Emilia's grin slipped into a knowing smirk and a raised eyebrow.

"You do!"

"I do?" Emilia questioned.

"Come on tell me then." Lilias said crossing her arms over her chest.

"Weren't you telling me?" Emilia asked. Lilias drew her eyebrows together, opened her mouth and closed it again.

"Fine. I'm Nephilim." Lilias said matter if factly.

"Half angel, half mortal." Emilia stated. Lilias gave a firm nod.

"Simple question. You've been alive for how many years? 900?" Lilias asked.

Emilia's smirk dropped, her expression turning dead. Her eyes no longer held an interested or excited gleam.

"That is a matter that should be discussed in private." Emilia said firmly. Lilias swallowed noticeably. "Of course. Shall we go back to my place?"

Finn ran down the old, creaky stairs, keeping his baby blue eyes forward. He didn't want to look back, scared of what was behind him. He was sweating across his hair line and his sun tanned skin glistened every time he passed under a skylight. Reaching the bottom of the stairs he stopped and rested his hands on the banister, breathing deeply. He squeezed his eyes shut trying to regain his breathing and when he opened his eyes again, they focused on the banister in front of him. There were large teeth bites that ripped through the splintering wood. They were as long as Finn's forearm. Finn only got a brief look at the demon before he split and was out of the room and down the stairs. The demon was a horrid, charred green and had black beady eyes that were sunken into the wrinkled skin. Now, Finn regained his breathing and ran as hard as he could to the front door. Two strides from the door, Finn was blocked by a large, stinking figure. Finn lifted his head just in time to see a huge claw swooping down. The claw made contact with Finn's side and sent him spinning through the air. Earning multiple cracks as Finn smashed against the wall the demon, laughed? It was a stomach churning, demonic cackle that sent a sharp ache down the middle of Finn's head. Finn attempted to stand but got no further than leaning his back against the wall. The pain on his right side was all too much. He bit down on a cry of pain. He didn't want to leave by the had of a demon. Ever. The demon roared and charged at the week and helpless Finn, at full speed. Finn's life didn't flash before his eyes. Lilias did. Her soft, pale skin. Her red, fiery curls that cascaded around her shoulders and rested mid chest. Her glistening, blue eyes and freckles that spread over her nose and cheeks. Her sweet lips that locked to his. Finn saw her walking innocently towards him, an easy smile on her face. A few feet away from him, stopped and opened her mouth and let out a scream, painful to the ears. Finn covered his ears and begged her to stop screaming. Her scream trailed off but she kept her mouth open. Finn took short, sharp breaths. Red trickled out of the corner of her mouth, down her chin, her neck, to the neckline of her white dress. Finn turned his head away not wanting to look. Lilias fell to her knees in front of Finn and started spluttering. Warm drops sprayed across the side of Finns face. He turned his face back to her, only to see her chin, neck and the front of her dress covered in blood. A sharp pain accrued in his chest, making him curl in on himself. Repeating the same word over and over to he whimpered.

"No, no, no, no, no."

"Finn!" Someone shouted at him, as if from a distance.

"Finn!" It was closer.

"Finn!" The sharp desperation of the voice made him flinch.

"Finn! Look at me, Finn." A familiar voice. "Finn, it's Lilias."

Finn snapped his eyes open and saw the old, wooden floor of the house he was in when he came across the demon. He looked around wildly to spot the demon.

"It's here! It was here. Where is it?" Finn asked desperately. Lilias patted the side of his face calmly.

"It's okay." She said soothingly. "It's taken care of. You don't need to worry, just deep breaths and calm down."

Finn threw his arms around her, pushing the pain in his right side away. He was over joyed that she wasn't covered in thick layers of blood, and she still had a sweet, melodic voice. Resting his chin on her shoulder her looked over her shoulder and saw another girl. She was covered in black ichor, that blended with her hair and eyes. She made eye contact with him briefly, before turning around to face the beast on the ground. He thought he saw longing and desperation in her eyes, but dismissed it, having not been there long enough for it to count. Finn closed his eyes and hugged Lilias tighter, breathing in her orange and cinnamon sent, that always calmed him. Just when Finn thought everything was well he caught a sharp pain in his right side that spread all over his body. Red and white spots appeared across his vision. He felt his body weakening as everything started to fade. He felt as though he was in a different position and saw the world from the side. Just as his vision went he saw the other girl running towards him. She's serious...and sexy, were his last thoughts before everything went and he blacked out.
