Emilia sat there trying to process his words, showing no emotion. She was dumbfounded. She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out.
"Well, say something!" Myles stressed. Emilia just shook her head trying to compose herself again.
"What am I supposed to say to that?" She exclaimed. "How do I know you're not lying?"
Myles threw his head back and chuckled. "Can't you tell?" He asked raising his eyebrows. "The hair." He said reaching out and lifting up a handful of her hair. She rolled her eyes and stood up walking away from him.
"Plenty of people have black hair."
"The eyes." Myles said from behind her. She stopped walking and turned to face him. She looked him over a few times. He was wearing brightly patterned shorts and a black t-shirt, his black, wavy hair was messy and his eyes almost glowed. She took her time to examine his eyes and came to conclude that they were not like hers. His were a dark, mossy green and hers were simply black, the same colour as the pupil. She narrowed her eyes at him, not trusting what he was saying. If he was her brother she would have known. She kept close tabs on her father, she knew everything there was to know, or so she thought.
"Our eyes are nothing alike." She said. "You're not my brother."
Emilia started walking back towards her house, irritated by Myles but she didn't get far before he was standing directly in front of her.
"Myles, move." She said sternly. "Before I make you."
He stayed where he was and Emilia was ready to throw him halfway out to sea but he finally spoke and when he did, he didn't stop for a single breath.
"Now I want you to listen to me and I'm only going to say this once, so listen closely. Your stubbornness is the the same as mine, the shape of our eyes, we're both left handed, the way you hold your self and your chin and jaw." He lifted her chin and turned her head to the side as if to examine her jaw. She jerked her chin out of his grasp.
"I might be lying," He said. "But birthmarks don't lie."
Emilia glanced down at her birthmark on the inside if her left wrist. It was a dark brown and reached from one side right to the other, in the shape of a jagged line, about half a centimeter thick. Myles reached his arm out and rested his wrist right next to hers, to compare their birthmarks. They were identical. Not a single flaw or difference between them. Emilia still stood there looking at her birthmark even after Myles had dropped his arm, she couldn't look at him. She couldn't look at the brother she never knew. She felt stupid for arguing with him about it.
"I know it was sudden but you had to know," Myles explained walking back towards the water. "But you must know that we don't have the same mother."
He turned around to see no one behind him, Emilia was gone. He sat on the sand and sighed, thinking if telling her was the right thing to do. The worst she could do was run off, but that wouldn't get her very far, Myles would find her again and Emilia knew that. She could commit suicide, or just kill Myles. That also wouldn't get her very far either, the second demon-half demon- would still be able to take her back. Myles still had no idea who the other half demon was, he had some leads on who is was but they all led to a dead end. Myles looked up at the moon, it was a full moon. He had two full moons to get her to Lucifer, if he didn't, his head would be on the plate. Myles got lost in the stars, but not for long, he heard whispers behind him. He looked over his shoulder and saw only rocks. Standing up he brushed the sand off the bum of his pants and smirked a little. He slinked over to where the voices were coming from and listened closely.
"I think he's gone." A male voice said.
"Hush, we don't want him to hear us." A female voice spoke.
"No, you don't want him to find you." Myles said, squatting next to the girl.
She shook her head and looked over at him briefly, before realization hit her. She swung around and socked him in the jaw, sending him flying into a large rock. The rock cracked and the earth vibrated a little. Myles grunted and stood up, stumbling.
"What the hell was that for?" He exclaimed rubbing his jaw.
"Oh, uh, sorry," The girl said. "You scared me so I punched you."
Myles straitened up and fixed his clothes. "Thanks, Captain Obvious." Myles said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Sorry, we gotta go," She said pointing over shoulder to nothing in particular. "Great meeting you, Bye!"
She turned around with the boy at her side and didn't get any further than that. Myles was standing in front of them with his arms crossed over his chest. He wouldn't let them get away that easily.
"Why were you spying on me? What do you want?" He asked. "Who are you, exactly."
The girl held up her hand and took a step back. "Dude, slow down with the questions." She said.
Myles narrowed his eyes at her, not giving in.
"Okay, we wern't spying on you, we want to get home and I'm Lillias and this is Finn." Lillias pressed a smile. "So now that we're all friends, we best be on our way."
Lillias walked around Myles, Finn in tow. Myles grabbed Lilias's wrist not letting her go any farther. She glared at him and yanked her arm out of his grasp.
"Dont touch me." She said holding back from kicking him.
"How old are you?" Myles asked not caring if it sounded rude.
"Excuse me?" Lilias said appalled. "They were right about half breeds like you being rude and obnoxious."
Myles grinned at that, it wasn't a nice grin though. "So you aren't human," he started walking towards her."What are you then? A troll? No, you cant be, you're to composed for that. You're something that's been alive for a while. A vampire? No, you have a hart beat. Your strong and composed and have been alive for a while. What are you?" Myles studied her and found a glow about her, Finn had the same glow. Myles drew his eyebrows together, trying to fit the pieces together.
"We're down graded scum like you." Lilias said softly, sounding sorry for not only herself and Finn, but for Myles as well. Lilias and Finn were hesitant to walk away at first, but Myles didn't seem like he was going to try and stop them. He just stood there staring vacantly at a rock. Lilias almost felt sorry for him but she didn't want to feel sorry for something from hell. The sun was warm on Myles back and he embraced that. He had lived most of his life in the cold and dim light, in hell. He shivered and squeezed his eyes shut. Walking slowly back to his house he hadn't realized how late, or early, rather, it had gotten. The sun had rose above the horizon by the time he made it home. He unlocked the back door and was about to walk into the house but he looked over at Emilias' house. More specifically her room. Her blinds were open and she was rushing back and forth past the window. She came to the window and looked at Myles once before pulling her blinds together harshly. Emilia showed no expression, which made it hard for Myles to know if telling her that he was her half brother was the right thing to do or not. He went on his gut instinct, which was that it was the right thing to do. It would make her trust Myles more and trust was what he needed if he was to get her to go to the darkest, coldest place. Hell. He didn't want to do it, but it was his only choice. She didn't take the first option, which was force, so he'd have to try the next two. To get her to trust him or to lie to her.
