It was a slow day in the shop Ms. Shannon told me that we're going to close up early for once.
So I started to clean up while she was in the back room, probably making calls or taking care of business.

I turned on my speaker to have some music to listen to while I swept. I put my phone on shuffle and I grinned at the first song that played.

"It get cold like Minnesota!" I blurted out as I grabbed my broom and attempted to sweep but I kept interrupting myself with dancing and singing.

"Tatted on my arms! My momma think I'm reckless, got guns under my mattress!"

My broom ended up being my dancing partner rather than a cleaning tool.

"8 stacks for the boy, he took care of ya boy," I sang, spinning and pointing at a random wig mannequin.

"Girl you're so goofy," Ms. S said coming in startling me.

I turned down the music and blushed, getting back to sweeping.

"No put it back on. I like that song," she said as she started to clean too.

I giggled and put the song back on but decided I should try and clean rather than dance. I sang along and surprisingly Ms. S was singing along with it too.

"I had no clue you liked Lil Yachty," she says to me with a grin.

"Oh gosh how could I not?" I blushed, thinking about the red haired performer.

"His music is nice huh," she says, still grinning.

"Yeah he's so positive and he promotes that in his music. He doesn't drink, smoke or ever really party. Plus he's finer than baby hair and his voice is sexy," I say, making her giggle uncontrollably.

"Yeah he's a good kid. His mom raised him just right," she says.

"Um Ms. S would you mind me asking how you know so much about Lil Yachty? I know you don't listen to new music that much," I said confused.

"It's cause I know him," she said making my eyes go wide at her.

"You know him?"

"Of course I know him, that's my son girl," Ms. Shannon says as she organizes her combs.

"Son? You've got to be kidding," I say in shock.

"I'm not. That cherry haired, knuckle head is my boy. Matter fact that's him trying to FaceTime me right now."

She answers the call quickly, making me rush to get out of view.

"Hey momma," I hear a familiar voice say. I was too nervous to look so I continued my cleaning.

"Hey son," she waved. "What's going on."

"I'm in Atlanta right now, I'm coming home to visit you Ma. I'll be there for a while."

"Yay I finally get to see my baby! Come by the shop then I have someone I want you to meet."

"Aight Ma, I'll be there in 10," he says hanging up the call.

At that moment I was finished cleaning.

"Okay Ms. Shannon I'm done cleaning. Is there anything you need me to do before I head out?"

She rolls her eyes.

"Yes girl I need you to stay here so you can meet my son that you're so fond of," she says.

"I can't do that I'm not ready. What if I say something stupid?"

"Baby girl there is nothing to be so nervous about. My son is just like you, it's gonna be okay."

I nodded and decided to go to the bathroom and fix myself up just a little bit. When I came out I seen a black uber pull out front and my heart was racing.

Within a second I see Ms. S hugging the tall mop of red hair at the shop entrance.

"My son finally came back to me," she says putting her hands on his cheeks.

"Mom," he chuckles.

He looked around, missing me standing in the corner nervously.

"I thought you said someone was here with you," he mumbles, confused.

The older women turns on her heels and spots me in the corner and ushers me over.

"Come here girl," she says, making me slowly walk over there.

"Miles this is my wonderful assistant Cordelia. She helps out a lot. Cordelia this is my son Miles, but you know him as Lil boat," she says smiling at the two of us.

"Hey Cordelia," he says quietly, smiling at the floor.

"Hey," i says shyly as I blush a little.

"How are you?" He muffles.

"I'm doing good. How are you?" I ask.

"Good," he says in almost a whisper.
