POV GUS

"Hit me up with a coffee, will you?" I ask the cute blonde with the name tag 'Samuel'.
He nods and presses a couple buttons on his touch screen computer.

"The usual?" He asks.

I nod smiling.

"That'll be $4.24." The blonde tells me, and I hand him a $5.

"Still straight?" I ask, as he hands me my change.

He nods, "If anything changes you'll be the first to know."

I laugh and grab the change. "Same time tomorrow, Sam."

"I'll look forward to it."

I go up to the balcony to wait for my coffee while I text Toby, getting no reply from her.

"Are you stalking me?" I hear, in a joking tone. I turn my eyes from my phone to the strange voice in front of me.

"Jack?" I scoff and roll my eyes as I see him. "Listen, this whole 'bumping into each other' routine is so last year. I need some space. Space! I can't have you following me around like a little puppy anymore! Desperate does not look good on you."

He lets out an amused laugh.

"Jack!" The barista shouts, Jack reaches out for him coffee.

"Oh." I say.

"Yeah. I was here before you."

My cheeks burn with embarrassment. "Well, whatever. I don't care! I just want to have a Jack-less week."

The barista calls my name and I grab my steaming beverage.

"Augustus, I am not following you. I came here for something else, actually. But if you want, I can leave."

"Don't be ridiculous." I tell him. "No need to be uncivilized. We can both stay."

He smiles and nods. "I'm impressed."

"And I think it's cute that you still think you know me." I say, and then find a table to sit in. He follows me and sits across from me.

"How's Toby?" He asks.

"She's fine."

"Back together with Theo yet?"

"Not yet."

"Hm." He mutters under his breath, and we both sip our coffees.

I discretely look at him, and make it my mission on earth to not let Jack see how weak he makes me feel.

"So, how's your love life?" He asks suddenly.

I spit out my coffee, desperately wondering if maybe he can read minds.

"Wha— my love life is great! Why do you ask?"

He looks at me with an unconvinced slightly confused smirk. "Are you okay?"

"Wha— yeah!" I get a napkins and wipe some coffee that was splashed on my face. "How is uh— how's your love life?"
