Layla's POV
Zinnia was out with Xander and they were out doing something. I know that James was teaching some of the newer witches more complicated spells. I was just lounging around the house, cleaning here and there.
Something felt off and when James came running in with wild eyes. "Lay, something bad happened!"
I grabbed his shoulders. "James, calm down. Tell me what happened."
"One of the clan sluts from the Knight Clan told one of the younglings about Carmine in Morte. They also said the spell." James said.
"They know the Death Spell and they said it?" I asked mortified. "The Havardr Clan is under lock and key." James nodded at me. "No one is allowed to enter and no one is allowed to leave. Make that known." James ran out and started to spread the word.
James came in and hugged me. He may be in the Edwards clan, but he was always there for me. "What are we going to do, Layla?" James asked.
"I have no clue. There was never a spell to counteract Carmine in Morte." I said upset. "We need to try to find one before our clan is wiped out."
"Lay, there's already children who are sick. What should we do with them?" James said.
"My house is big enough for all of the sick ones. Bring them here and get all the healers here together." We both left to go do that.Zinnia's POV
Kade, Xander and I were going to see Layla, after not seeing her for a week, when we ran into Mason and Errick. "Hello, fellas." I told them as we walked into them.
"Are you guys on your way to see Layla?" Xander asked them while pulling me closer.
"Yes we are, as a matter of fact." Mason said.
We walked to the boarder, only to be stopped by a barrier.
"What the hell is going on?" I asked out loud.
"No one is allowed to enter the territory until our problems are resolved." One of the men guarding the territory said. "We can go get Layla for you if you want to talk to her."
"Please and thank you." I told them. The woman looked like she was in concentration.
"Layla is on her way with James." The woman said.
Layla walked up after a week of not seeing her, with her tattoos showing. She must be doing so many spells and she looks so tired.
"Lay, what happened? Why can't we come in?" I asked.
"That's none of your concern." She told me.
"It is when some of my clan members are in there." I told her.
"You didn't care when the Death Spell was released." I gasped. I had been with Xander all this time and didn't even notice. "We already lost six kids and two adults." Layla looked devastated.
"I didn't even-"
"Don't worry about it. We have everything handled." Layla said.
"Please let us help." Layla shook her head.
"You cannot help us. Anyone who comes in, can be affected by this." Layla and James are looking at each other. "We've created a spell the counteracts the Death Spell as you come in." I nodded my head. All three of us witches really wanted to help. They lets us pass the barrier and the Havardr clan witches started speaking in their own language.
"Lay, how do we know that the spell will work?" I heard James ask Lay.
"We created it with good intentions." She looked at her house. "Even if it means giving up my life, those kids will survive." He nodded his head.
"We will get through this, together."
