Layla's POV
"Lay, what happens when you do this spell?" Zinnia asked me curiously. James and me looked at each other contemplating on if we should tell them.
"Well..." I contemplate on how I should tell them. "A person needs to die."
"What?" Zinnia yells. "So what you're telling me is that one of those people is not going to make it."
"No, they are going to make it." James looked at me before he continued. "But one of us might not." He pointed between me and him.
"Lay, you can't do it. I can't lose you." Zinnia cried.
"There's a small chance that I might actually make it. It's very small, but I have to take it." I touched her cheek. "Zinny, I'm going to be okay." She nodded and she hugged me.
"When you make it, you aren't leaving my sight." Kade told me seriously. We looked up and it was almost time to do the spell. We both left to get ready. I put on my white and gold dress that has been handed down through the generations and my silver robe that was made for me. My silver crown was put on my head after I braided my hair and I grabbed my dagger, to do the ceremony. When I went to go out there, everyone who was well in my clan or was caught in this from Zinnia's was wearing similar outfits like mine. They all bowed and got ready to start the circle. This is the good thing about having two hundred and thirty seven people willing to help out. No one was talking, and they were ready for me to start the ceremony.
"This plague, this disease, was brought to us by someone trying to avenge a death that was written in stone." I said walking around. "They killed our men, women and children." Everyone got angry at that. "Those innocent children who said it, we killed instantly, not even know what they said. They were four years old. But, we aren't going to let those people from the Knight clan get away with it. We will get vengeance, whether we have to go to war or not." They all had a determined look in their eyes. I smiled proudly at what the clans have become under us.
"Let us begin:"
The circle started to glow blue and the energy coming from the clan was coming straight to me. They were helping me do this and giving me more energy to perform this spell, giving me and more of a chance of living.
I cut my palm and We all started to chant the spell that me and James came up with.
"Per nos una, et pestem hanc nocere nobis. Medicas adhibere manus ad aquilonem, adiuva nos. Ignis venerat a meridie in nobis producat calorem. De terra orientis, conversus vivificabis nos. Aqua ab Occidente, adducere nos sanguinem." (By us together, shall this plague harm us. Healing hands from the north, help us. Fire from the south, bring us warmth. Earth from the east, bring us life. Water from the West, bring us blood.)
We chanted the spell three times before ending it with, "So mote it Be." After that was said the embers started to turn green that was coming to me and I could it going throughout the area. I started to become weaker and weaker, but I couldn't let those children and those people die. I had to stay strong for them. When it finally left, I felt so light headed and dizzy, that fell to the ground.
"Layla!" I heard Kade call out to me. He picked me up. "Layla. Can you hear me? Layla!"
"I can hear you." I answered. "I'm just so sleepy."
He carries me inside of my house and helps me take off my dress. "I'm so sorry I've been ignoring you, little mate. I just don't know how to be with anyone." He said to me.
I smiled and kissed his cheek. I take his shirt off and put it on me. I take off my bra and underwear and put on some pajama shorts. "You also can't be teasing me like that." He groans out. I giggle at him and pulls him onto the bed with me. He wraps his arms around and we go to sleep.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I wake up and I smell like food was being cooked. My arm was stinging and I see that I now have a scar that looks like I've been struck by lightning. It doesn't look to bad, but I can barely feel that arm. I sigh and get dressed in sweats and Kade's shirt. I go downstairs and see Zinnia, Xander and Kade all sitting down while James was making breakfast.
"Good morning." I said as I walked in. I looked at James's arm and see he has the same thing going on with his arm that mine has. He handed me a cup of tea and pointed to a chair.
"You are worse off than me. Sit your little ass down." He said.
"For your information, my ass ain't little." I said.
Kade popped in. "No it isn't."
"The Yule ball is today." Zinnia said.
"So?" Xander asked.
Zinnia rolled her eyes at him. "So are we going? Yule is a big thing for us since it's the witches new year." She proclaimed. "But it's up to Layla since she got hurt last night."
I was eating a piece of bacon and I felt all their eyes turn on me. "I don't see why we should change anything now." She giggled and told the boys to go buy tuxes while we go get dresses. So instead of wasting gas, we all just took one car which was James's SUV. I sat in the front so that I can lean the chair back and Kade was rubbing my head for me.
It took us a little over an hour to get to the mall in next town over. James was sitting in the back with the boys and we both went back to sleep. When we got there, Kade gently shook me awake. He smiled at me when I opened my eyes and kissed my lips ever so gently.
"Here you go, princess." Xander said to Zinnia as he handed her his card. Kade was apparently buying the tuxes and Xander was buying the dresses... well, I slept through it all. James and me sleepily made our way into the mall and we both got some coffee to drink.
Zinnia started to drag me to the dress stores by my sore arm and when I winced, Kade growled at her. She let go immediately and apologized to me. She grabbed my other arm and pulled me to the dress shop and she started to look at dresses. I wasn't to worried about it because I'll find one eventually. She picked out a purple tulle dress and black pumps to go with them. The dress came with a purple shawl so she wouldn't be cold. But she'll probably borrow my purple cloak since it's Yule.
I picked out a silver mid-sleeve dress that had a long train. It was just a gorgeous dress. We had jewelry to go with it already and I already had my shoes for them. So, we met up with the boys and grabbed some lunch. James and me weren't really hungry but we got something small to eat.
"We should really go to get ready." I said looking at my watch. It was four o'clock and it starts at eight, but the leaders of the packs and clans that were going need to show up early. So we left and I sat in the back with Kade and James, I was in the middle. James and me used it to our advantage and got an extra hour sleep. By the time we got to the house, we were ready to go. Us girls told them to go to James's house and we'll meet them there at the hotel.
I get my makeup done first which was a simple silver and black eyeshadow, winged eyeliner and red lipstick. I then did Zinnia's which was sparkly purple eyeshadow and winged eyeliner, and pink lip gloss. I helped Zinnia into her dress and put her hair up in a somewhat curly bun. I put on her diamond choker and she finished putting on her jewelry which consisted of earrings and an amethyst bracelet.I told her to go find my purple cloak since it's suppose to snow tonight. I put my dress on and my matching pumps. I put on my diamond chocked that had diamond drops in it. I was wearing diamond errands and bracelet. I braided my hair and put it in a bun and I was ready to go.
I go downstairs to see Zinnia waiting for me with my silver cloak that I wore yesterday during the ceremony. We got into the limo that was waiting for us and by the time that we got to the hotel, it was time for us to go in anyways. So we walk in and everyone stops what they are doing and stares. I see Kade with someone who looks like an older him, so it must be his dad. He walked over to me and gave me a slight kiss on the lips. All I have to say is that he looks ravishing in his suit.
Well, let's see how this party goes.
