I walked back to the living room and watched the rest of the film with Mum. It had been on for at least ten minutes and I had no idea what was happening. I laid with my head wrested on her lap, as she gently played with my hair. At first, it was slightly uncomfortable but it became soothing over time and I slowly fell asleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I woke up to the sound of yelling. It was dreadful, so I covered my ears with the nearest pillow.
"Harvey! Leo won't give me my teddy," Tilly shrieked in my ear.
"It's my bear! I got it in Reading, give it back!"
I shifted to face them and sighed. "I don't care," I muttered. I could feel a headache coming on. "Go ask Mum and quit bickering." They both ran off and I was finally able to get ready.
I ran to the restroom with my clothing and threw them on. It was hard to get used to wearing whatever I want to school instead of a uniform. I had grabbed my new red shirt and skinny jeans, and slipped into my new grey Nike shoes. I headed to the kitchen and sat down, waiting for Mum to finish making breakfast. While I waited, I searched through my bag for a while, just trying to pass time. I found loads of things in there; gum wrappers, balled up papers, earbuds.
"Hey Mum?" Someone whispered from around the doorway, we both looked up. "Is it okay if I walk to school today?" I could just barely see the fabric of Max's beanie, but none of him.
"Sure," she replied, a bit surprised. The front door opened briefly then closed. I glanced up at Mum for an explanation, she looked upset.
"Your brother just wants some space, that's all. I think he's having trouble fitting in too." Leo came running through, holding the teddy bear triumphantly.
"Tills is gonna be mad," I laughed.
"No, she gave it to me," Leo replied, quick to defend himself.
"That's only because girls mature quicker than guys." I turned to Mum, she smiled, but Leo sighed.
"Harvey's right," was all she said. She grabbed her handbag and coat. "Come, we'll all be late."
We all headed for the door together and got in the car. Tilly was still half asleep when we got her so Mum made me get her ready on the way to school. We arrived quicker than I thought we would but I was still in a rush.
I threw open the car door and raced to the building, bag on shoulder. I walked into Mr. Neville's room with a large smile on my face, I was going to make the most of the day, no matter what it took.Was Max's chapter terrible? Be honest.😂 I haven't read it yet so...I hope it's not THAT bad. Should I let him write another sometime?😕Up to you!
Cya! Harvey👌
