She ran. She didn't know how long, but they ran. They found a place to sleep that night.
"We can sleep here," Johnny suggested. It was an abandoned car garage but it still had power and they set up to sleep. They found out it would give them both more room if they put one sleeping bag down as something to sleep on and the other as a blanket.
"It works," Katlyn said. Their pillows were right next to each other. Katlyn laid down on the sleeping bag and turned to face Johnny.
"What if for the rest of our lives we were just stuck roaming the streets?" Katlyn asked.
"It'd be fine, because we'd always be together," Johnny replied, also on his side facing her.
Katlyn smiled and looked at him. "I lied earlier you know." But she then laid on her back. And didn't say what she meant. He didn't ask.
