Two Princes & One Throne

Chapter 5

Xavier's  POV: 

 I am still afraid of what had happened to me the last time I had fallen in love. I have to be cautious and do some background checks on Adriana to confirm that she is no threat.

 I had my men gather all the information they were to find in regards to Adriana. To my relief, she is no enemy. As to my surprise, she is related to Prince Philip, Adriana being his third cousin. She has two elder brothers, two sisters, her parents and lots of other relatives.

Two days after my father and mother told me they would like to speak to me about something important. I didn't know what it could be about, but when I walked into my parents chambers, they smiled and patted a seat for me right beside them. 

They started off with "We love you son and we talked about the beautiful girl you were with." I nodded my head and smiled agreeing with them. Then they both told me if I love her with all my heart and I replied with a "Yes." Suddenly they asked if I would want to marry her!

 I said "Yes, I would love too." My mother also stated she spoke Adriana's parents too, "Inform Adriana about what she thinks of you my darling," Said my mother.

Two days later my father had a really bad heart attack, due to his weakness he didn't make it back to us. My mother burst into tears. Alexander, my sisters, and I, were really heartbroken that our father has gone. 

We had been crying for 5 hours now, since his death. His last words to my family and I, were "Be strong and don't give up on our family. I love you all very much." 

 We held his funeral and I was not really looking forward to it because I was really depressed. I was in my room when my beautiful girlfriend knocked on the door. Adriana comforted me through the hard times. 

It was bearable with her to support and love . I am really thankful to have such have wonderful person in my life.

As the days passed by, it was nearing one year's death anniversary of my father. I had been thinking long and hard, about me proposing to Adriana. I could give anything and everything to her. I had finally found someone who brought out the good in me. To my surprise, I did not care for power anymore.

It was time for me to start building my good name and family. I had called Adriana out for dinner and entertainment at the Cinema. I was nervous to find out what her answer would be to my proposal. I did not want my heart to be played with again.

After dinner, Adriana and I were strolling along the shore line. It was a beautiful night with summer around the corner. The warm breeze was blowing with the scent of cherry blossom. We walked to the flower garden and stopped at the sight of the full moon.

"Adriana my love, you are my everything. You have brought out the best in me. I love you with all my heart and soul. I would do anything to keep you happy and safe. Can I have the honor to ask you to be my wife?" I waited for her answer with anticipated breath while holding the diamond ring. "Yes I would love too," replied Adriana with tears on her eyes.
