This is the first story in a series of three, this particular one with two parts. It's been many years since I typed it all up out of the depths of my imagination and for some reason, the years of it just being words on a computer screen is much less scary than sharing it with you all. I hope you enjoy it. Please comment and let me know what you think, kindly. I need help with the summary, obviously.

Destined-Preface

I awoke that Tuesday with a fog cascading down over my eyes; so dense that I thought I was still dreaming. It was the dream that stirred me, forcing me awake. Not a dream really, but a nightmare. Although it should have been frightening, these horrible scenes that played in my mind, it was not. It was thrilling.

In all my life I’ve never had a dream this vivid. So intricate, I almost believed it reality. The figures I saw in my sleep were so life-like, I can remember every inch of them. The color of their eyes, glowing in the night. It was as if each color was enhanced somehow, glittering. And their skin-smooth as silk, and pale, almost translucent.

Captivating.

There were three of these figures, each unique in their own right, yet somehow the same. They seemed to move as one, to think as one. The first stood tall, statuesque really. He had a robe draped over his wide shoulders, extending up over his head and covering his face. A face that appeared so beautiful I almost couldn’t look away. His eyes were as green as the valleys of Ireland, and just as deep. They seemed luminescent in the night, with little flecks of gold inside them. The other two were not as tall as the first, but equally substantial. The other male, just as beautiful, wrapped the cloak only over his shoulders, exposing his ebony hair. The black seemed to flow so smoothly over his ears, perfectly, like he could have been a model in some magazine. His eyes were more grey than blue with a subtle navy ring around the outside. They appeared more like rings of smoke than eyes. The third figure was definitely female, a heart-stopping beauty. Her body was gloriously long and lean with eyes as black as midnight, her golden curls pouring over her shoulders and down to the small of her back. Her striking beauty only made me feel all the more plain.

These figures didn’t scare me, so I assumed I must be braver in my dreams. They only intrigued me, and I yearned to discover more about them. But when they began approaching me, no-stalking towards me, you would think I’d feel the need to run like the girls in those horror movies. But like I said, I am braver in my dreams. I stood in a trance, still as a rock. Their eyes locked onto mine, their steps in unison.

I remember thinking faintly, “Maybe I should be running…” but you know how dreams are. Things just don’t always add up. Then there was a flash of light, the smoke eyed male and the female gripped my arms and the man with the eyes of Ireland was precisely above me…hovering. I remember a hot, stinging feeling in my shoulder and a sensation of water running down my side. The stinging became a fire that sent a scream up my throat and out my lips… and that is what woke me.

Struggling to shake off the dream, the fog began slowly clearing from my eyes. I tried to look over to find my water since my mouth felt like a thousand cotton balls were stuffed inside. I chugged down the room temperature liquid, swallowing each and every cotton ball. Struggling to my feet, I blinked to clear my eyes of the haze, and fell flat on my face.

What was going on?

I wondered if my legs didn’t work. Maybe I was paralyzed.

I felt around, slightly panicked, but thankfully I was still in one piece. Maybe my feet just fell asleep. As my hands touched the ground to lift myself back up, the sting in my shoulder made me wince. Very slowly, I reached up to touch the burning, unable to believe where it was coming from. There was no way. I mean, I always knew I had a good imagination, but this was ridiculous. How could something that happened in a dream actually put me in physical pain? I reached up to grab the mirror from my vanity and straining to focus in the dark, I was finally afraid.

There were holes in my shoulders.

Bites to be exact…

Three sets.

Amidst the panic, and the red mist that spread throughout my eyes, I began to feel strange. It was as if my body was being drained of all the blood and I could feel the release of life from my veins, one inch of my flesh at a time. The feeling became agonizing, horrifyingly frightening. I crawled back up into my bed, my feeble attempt causing me a few bruises on my shins from the edge of the mahogany bed frame.

The pain radiated through me, from my legs up into my stomach, and pierced my heart. If I tried to move against it, sharp stabs would course through my sides, paralyzing me again. Even my gums burned. It was as if my teeth were growing, extending out from their normal size. Every solitary pore of my skin was throbbing, every inch of me hurt.

I lay there in anguish for what seemed like eons, my mind refusing to accept the suspicions I was formulating. It was as if I lay trapped in some horror movie, the damsel in distress that had no hero, but instead was left to die. Now I was transforming into a blood sucking monster and had escaped my own demise only to be damned to a prison of sadism where I would eventually need to feed off human life in order to suffice. That was one theory I couldn’t wrap my head around.

As the suffering went on, the red mist faded to black and my mind slipped into a conscious dream state. I could still feel it, so powerfully it felt as if it my insides were shredding to tiny little pieces. But the pain wilted into the background, more of a numb afterthought. My head filled with this blackness, my eyes had long since clouded over, and my lids refused to open. My mind eventually became desensitized and I drifted away with the numbness into oblivion.

That was three days ago.
