Downtown

The next morning he held me tighter than ever before, brushing his lips across the back of my neck.

The night had been magnificent.

Haiden had carried me back into the room, and laying me down on the bed, had made love to me all over again. Then, after a long, soothing bath, he fell asleep next to me, wrapping himself around me for another blissful night.

Today we had plans to ride the ferry into town. He was going to show me his favorite parts of the city, and take me to all the places that he loved to visit. He even promised to bring me to a bookstore that he knew of downtown.

This was something I could quickly get used to. Spending every day with him, being able to see his beautiful face next to mine each morning when I woke up- it was paradise.

He shifted in the bed beside me, rolling onto his back to get up.

“Love you,” he whispered, kissing me on the cheek lightly before rising.

I sat up in bed while he got dressed in his clothes from the day before.

While he was buttoning his shirt, he noticed me staring at him, and laughed at me as I tried to hide the blush in my cheeks from getting caught.

I swung my legs over the bed and walked to the dresser, and began to sift around in the drawers for something to wear while he finished putting his black slacks on. He came up behind me as I searched, putting his arms around my waist, and nuzzled sleepily against my ear.

“We could just stay in bed all day, you know,” he mumbled, sending another chill up my spine.

The idea definitely sounded wonderful, but I was really looking forward to spending the day out with him.

“We could,” I smiled, turning to face him. “Or you could make good on your promise to bring me to the bookstore.”

He laughed and ran his hand along my hair.

“But what if I want to ravage you again?” he asked, his eyes attempting to seduce me.

“Can’t I have my cake and eat it too?” I grinned innocently.

Conceding, he flicked his finger down my nose, and sighed.

“Fine,” he shrugged. “I’ll just have to drive you crazy all day then. You’ll be regretting your decision before you know it.”

I knew he could do it too. All he had to do was look at me, and I would melt into a puddle at his feet.

Haiden left then, going to his room to change out of yesterday’s clothes. When I finished getting ready, I walked down the stairs to the dining room where I found Giada and Kristopher sitting at the table together.

“Good morning,” Giada chimed, smiling wisely up at me. “Did you two have a good evening?”

I could feel my cheeks getting pink from her apparent knowledge, but I just flashed a grin, hoping she wouldn’t keep pressing. Surely I was just reading into what she had asked me.

“We’re going into town today, if you guys would like to come,” I offered, hoping to have successfully evaded her question.

“We would love to,” Kristopher answered, looking up from the paper in his hands. “But we won’t be able to today. I’m sorry sweetheart, but thank you for asking.”

He smiled vibrantly at me, and turned to finish reading his newspaper.

“But you two have fun,” Giada added, her eyes looking entirely too understanding.
