Wind blows through the trees, clouds dance across the sky. Moonlight outlines the leaves with an etheral glow, snowflakes falling in shining swirls.
A hooded figure makes his way along the forest floor, clutching a bundle to his chest. His breath comes out as white puffs in the cold night air.
In the distance is a large cottage with brightly lit windows, a small stream meandering past.
The figure crosses the small footbridge and reaches the door. He pulls back his hood to reveal a grey-furred wolf. Gently, he places the bundle down and smiles at the little face of a baby fox.
He yawns quietly and looks at the wolf with sleepy eyes.
"Tired one, aren't you?" The wolf says. He pulls something out of his pocket, a small wooden name plate, with the words
Dylan Garroway
DOB: 6 October 2023
Engraved on it in gold lettering.
The wolf gently places the nameplate next to the small fox and pulls out another object. A silver chain with a simple golden leaf dangling from it. The wolf places it around the foxes neck and stands up.
He takes one last look at the fox, rings the doorbell and hurries off into the night.
