HUNGER GAM3S: Sonic and Mario style

Hour 5

We were just walking. We've been walking for what feels like forever. The bong noise had sounded off five times. We were in the fifth hour. Shadow stepped close to me, looking around. I kind of leaned myself on him. He felt him look down at me. "Were you there?" "where?" "the whole time, were you there watching over me?" he breathed out heavily. "Yes" I looked up at him. "So you were always there? When I was with the other group...." I mumbled the last part. He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me close to him. "I'm starting to think.." he began to say. "What?" I looked up at him as we stopped. He looked at me, I stared into his eyes. (E/c) staring at ruby. "That, I care for you" I heard a noise and looked up at the sky. It showed one person, Rosalina. "One down, three to go" I whispered. I turned to Shadow, he was just standing there. "We should move, we don't what the fifth hour has in store" he walked past me. It was getting too close for comfort. I had no doubt he would kill me the moment he had too. I followed behind him, cautiously. We traveled till we came to the middle. Where we first began. Shadow pointed out the sections in the water made by the platform in the middle. It was like a clock, there was even a hand. I looked down at my stomach as it growled. "Come on" he jumped down from the edge. I went to jump down, he helped me down by holding my waist. He let me go and we traveled onto the middle platform. There was actually a bag of food there, surprisingly. I couldn't stand the place having some dead people on it. We sat on the beach and ate the food. "Nothings happening" "what do you mean?" "the thing rang five times and nothing happened" I wiped my mouth and stood up. "Just like all the other hours, there should be an event too" I made an emphasis on the event. He just looked at me. We heard a noise and saw someone fall from somewhere. I gasped, Shadow grabbed my arm and hide behind the building. "Tails..." I whispered to myself. Shadow held his hand up, protectively, in front of me. "He doesn't have a weapon" "he's the brains" "not so smart" he crept out and around the building. He was going to kill him, then he had to kill me. He's going to kill me... I stayed there, crouched, for awhile till I realized something. I need to run! I got up and ran into the forest. I didn't look back, I just ran. I ran until my legs couldn't carry me to more. I stopped and rested against a tree. I had a flashback to the beginning of all this. 'He's with us too' she stepped in front of me when I looked at the guy in the back. When I first met him. He told me straight up, he was going to kill anyone he had to. I can't kill him though, he's too good. He survived the other one and I sure ain't gonna top that. I heard a noise, I let a gasp. I climbed the tree I was resting up against. I made it as far as I could go and was comfortable with. I looked down, it was Shadow. I heard a canon noise and looked at the sky. It showed tails. It showed the remainders also, me and Shadow. The two of us, soon to be just one. He looked around and kind of walked away. I let out a breath I had been holding. I jumped down from the tree. I thought I was good until I felt a hand cover my mouth. I tried to scream and kick out of his grasp. Screaming wasn't gonna help, no one's here to save me. He pushed me against the tree, "Stop struggling, I'm not gonna kill you" he removed his hand from my mouth. "How do I know that? There's no one left!" he let me go. I didn't run though, I couldn't. "(y/n)-" "just kill me already" "I can't" he pulled me close to him. He kissed me. I stood there paralyzed in surprise. I tensed up, I let my shoulders drop. I kissed him back. He pulled away. "I like you" "like me?" "I love you" I smiled and hugged him. "One of us has to die though.." "I'll go, so that you can live. I've already survived one of these, that's enough" "No, I can't go on without someone else there with me" I put my head under his head. "We can die together, here in this dome" "How?" I questioned. He went off and I followed him. He picked up some berries. "Poison berries, eat one and you die almost instantly" I looked at him and took some. We both looked at each other. I had a little tear in my eyes. He wiped my tear from my eye that escaped and fell down my cheek. I nodded, I was shaking. We kissed for a split second then dropped the berries into our mouths. I hugged him, he held me closely. I felt my head swelling and my vision dropping. I fell to the ground and moments after, he did also. I laid there losing my breath. I felt like something was choking me. I turned my head over to Shadow. My vision started to fade but I could still see him. Things from the past flooded my brain. How I met Carson, when we were little, him dying, me meeting Shadow, him being there for me, all leading up to this moment. I looked at him and a tear fell down my cheek. "I love you..." I faintly said. "I love you two" I heard him reply. As we laid there dying, we used our last strength in our bodies. We laid there looking at each other. We smiled.
