Ch. 4 Kira's New Tricks

*With Light*

Light returned back to his house and managed to study for a few hours before dinner would be ready. Dinner was ready and Light and Sayu were at the table and started eating while their mom was still getting the food ready, but their father was still at work.

"You're in a good mood" Sayu said with a smirk. "Huh? Am I?" Light said as he ate. Sayu then turned her body in the chair towards Light. "You've promised to tell me how things are going with Shiori." Sayu said excitingly. "No, I haven't" Light said a little annoyed. "I'm curious too. What's going on with you and her?" Light's mom said as she came in the room and placed a few food dishes on the table. Light just looked away as he continued eating. To be honest he was thinking about that american girl. He's been thinking about her all day.

The three of them heard a door open and their expressions brightened up. "Father's home." Light said as he got up to head for the door. "Hey don't run away from me!" Sayu said as she got up quickly to go after Light. Light, Sayu, and their mom were at the door and saw that their father had come home. "You're back" Light said with a smile. "Welcome home" Mrs. Yagami said lovingly. "Light and Shiori are-" Sayu started blurting out until- "Blabbermouth" Light said as he playfully grabbed her and she giggled. "What about him?" Mr. Yagami asked as he looked at Light.

Mrs. Yagami poored beer in her husband's glass as they sat at the dining table. "Here you are."she said with a smile. "It's nice drinking at home." Mr. Yagami said as he took a drink out of the glass. "I knew you were exhausted." Light stated. "Why's that?" his father said as he crosses his arms. "You're in charge of Kira's case" Light said and there was an awkward silence. "Why would I be?" "Seems like there's a lot on your mind.... Dad, I want to help you." Light said. "Light, I know you've helped us several times before. You have a sharp mind. And I'm very proud of you." Mr. Yagami said seriously. "I'm proud too" Sayu said giggling. Mr. Yagami chuckled and rubbed her head. "That's right. But this time we're dealing with a dangerous killer. He's a devil that kills without doing anything himself" Mr. Yagami said while Light stared at him. "I can't have you involved." "But I could-" "No. This is my case. Your time will come five or ten years from now. Save your strength for then. Don't rush it." Mr. Yagami said. "I understand" Light said. Well that plan didn't work. Light and his family then continued eating in silence.

Light thought about it and decided to bring up what he was thinking. "I saw an American today." His family looked at him with interest. "Oh really?!" Mrs. Yagami said. "That's so cool! Did you meet him?!" Sayu asked getting excited again. "No, but the american is a girl. She was at my college talking with the person in charge of the college." Light said. "Why would an American come here to Japan?" Mr. Yagami asked. "She's probably sight seeing or here for business" Mrs. Yagami said. "Soooo Light. Is she pretty?"Sayu smirked. "Enough Sayu. Light already has a girl that he likes and you don't know how old she is" Mr. Yagami said. "Actually she looks my age. And I have to admit.... she's very attractive" Light said as he finished his bowl. "I'm going to go study" Light said as he got up and grabbed a red apple. "Dad?" "Hm?" "If something were to happen to you...I'll send Kira to be executed." Light said as his father chuckled and nodded. As Light went upstairs, Sayu and her mom exchanged concerned glances to each other.

*With Rose*

L and I have noticed the time of killings were based on a college student's schedule meaning Kira was a college student. But pretty soon it all changed. Now criminals were dying per day. L was talking to the investigation team through his computer while I was looking over some papers. For some time I had a strong feeling that Kira owned a death note. Arashi sat next to me looking at the papers as well. He was interested on finding Kira.

Later on, we got another report about criminals that died and one of them left a suicide note and it read "L, did you know gods of death love apples?" L predicts that Kira is testing out his power and could let criminals die at any specific time. Seems Kira has a lot of tricks up his sleeve....
