Ch. 9 Threats

It was day three of watching the two families from the cameras. Mr. Yagami, L and I were watching the Yagami family and everything seemed normal. Everyone wakes up in the morning, Light goes to college and Sayu goes to school, Mrs. Yagami cleans up the house, Light and Sayu come home, Light studies, Sayu and Mrs. Yagami prepare dinner, then the three of them eat, watch tv, Light studies a bit more and then everyone goes to bed.

"I'm taking a break" Mr. Yagami said as he went in the other room where the others were watching the other family. Now it was only me and L. I continued to watch Light as he went down for dinner. Even though everything seemed normal there was something odd about Light.

Watari then got a call and answered it. The others came out of the room and Watari told all of us that there were three killers who were on the run died of heart attacks. "Is that so?" Mr. Yagami said with relief. "Not so fast. Have you forgotten that Kira can manipulate time? We don't know for sure until a new crime is reported." L said not taking his eyes off the tvs. I saw Mr. Yagami's happy expression fall apart. I felt sorry for him, his family was under suspicion and he hadn't slept in three days.

It was now day five and late at night. The investigation team fell asleep including L. I must have dozed off on the couch since I was lying down and I was in deep sleep. L was sleeping sitting up in his weird posture. Mr. Yagami was the only one up and when he saw me sleeping he noticed I must of been cold considering I was only wearing pajama pants and a tank top. He grabbed a blanket and softly covered me up with it. (Aw he treats her like she's his daughter ^_^)

Day seven came and still no sign of weird activity. The Yagami's just finished dinner and Light took a potato chip bag with him upstairs and he went on to studying. Me and the rest of the investigation team were all in the same room watching the Yagamis and had the tv news on. It didn't have english subtitles so I couldn't understand what the news reporter was saying.

"He isn't watching the news" L said, referring to Light. We continued watching Light and all he was doing was studying and eating potato chips. (I bet you he was thinking, "I'll take a potato chip...... AND EAT IT!!" LOL XD) I heard the news caster say a few words and that made L sit up straight on alert. I looked over at him and he looked shocked. Even the investigation team seemed surprised.

"Um what's going on?" I asked all of them. "This is Kira's latest crime." Mogi said. "Light is no longer on suspicion!" Matsuda said happily to me. I looked back at Matsuda then back at Light. He was still studying and eating those potato chips. I guess Light wasn't Kira, unless there was a blind spot that we missed. I looked at L and he still looked shocked and couldn't believe this was happening.

"The chief and deputy chief's families are cleared" Ukita said. "Ryuzaki, aren't you satisfied?" Mr. Yagami asked. L thought for a moment. "Watari. Recover all the bugs and cameras from their houses." "Understood." Watari said. "You must be relieved, Chief." Ms. Sanami said. "It'll be a fresh start." Mogi said as Matsuda nodded at him. I looked at Mr. Yagami and I knew he was glaring at the man on the side of me. I looked at L and he still looked at the cameras. L knew something about Light and I could tell he was going to get to the bottom of it.

By the next day, all of the cameras and bugs were removed. I decided to go out to get fresh air, and of coarse buy L his precious sweets. I wore a tanish tank top that had a cage with a bird in it and my dark blue jeans with my converse shoes. It was nice and cool out. I wondered if I would crash into Light since we already saw each other at the college then on the bus of the busjacking. Something was drawing us to see each other but I didn't know what.

I was walking through the park enjoying the breeze, until it was interrupted. "Ms. Johnson?" a voice broke my daydreaming. I looked behind me to see a woman dressed in black and dark hair walk up to me. "Yes?" I asked. "My name is Ms. Maki. I'm doing an article on the Kira case. I think you know Mr. Iwamatsu." she said. "You mean Raye Iwamatsu?" I asked. "That's right. I'm suspecting you as Kira." she said. I looked at her weirdly and then realized it. "Your Naomi Misora." I said. She looked at me wide eyed. "How did you know?!" she demanded. "Easy. Look. The reason I know your name is because I'm working with L. He told me that you use to work for him and that Raye was your fiance." She stared at me and then said "I don't believe you."

"If you don't believe me then ask L yourself." I said and turned and walked away. I felt her grab my arm roughly and I looked at her ready to fight her off if I had to. "I'm not done yet!" Naomi said. "I told you the truth...... and I know what your going through." I said. "No you don't!" she yelled at me. "Yes I do!" I yanked my arm from her grip. "You loved Raye so much and now that he's dead your heart is broken. You would do anything to find his killer and I understand that." I said softly to her. She looked at me with tears in her eyes. "Trust me. I know what its like to lose someone. My parents died in a car crash, my sister died of cancer, my best friend was kidnapped and I don't know if she's even alive, but I'm desperately looking for her," my voice cracked a bit but I refused to cry. "Now I only have my brother left."

She looked at me with no anger and rage in her eyes. I saw sadness and understanding. "I'm sorry...." Naomi said. "For your loss and for accusing you...." she said. "It's alright." I said to her. I really did feel sorry for her. I remembered her running up to Raye's form, crying and screaming his name in agony. It reminded me of losing my parents and sister. "I'm sorry for this. Please forgive me." Naomi said and walked away with the same tears in her eyes. I was going to go after her, but I thought it was best to leave her alone. I sighed and decided to head back to the hotel.

"Man I thought there was going to be a cat fight." Arashi said walking beside me. I kept silent ignoring him. I wasn't in the mood for his jokes. Arashi noticed my expression and didn't say anything else on the walk.
