Chapter 8:
charlie & the doctors
--
- olivia -
today i was going to the hospital for my check - up

"olivia, I'll have your mom step out for privacy while i ask you these questions"

personal questions. i immediately knew i had to get personal.

"olivia, are you depressed?" she asks immediately: right off the bat.

i stayed quiet

"y-yes" i say not looking at her.

I needed help.
but could i get any help?
Let's see

"Why?" She asks looking at me

"I ask myself the same thing" I respond

"What do you mean?" She looks at me

"I just fell into a random state of depression for no reason."

She jotted everything down.

"Have you gotten picked on at school?" She asks

"No"

"Have you ever tried to hurt yourself in anyway?" she asks me

"No" i say again

"Alright, I'll call in your mom and I'll set up an appointment with a therapist" she says

My mom came back in and pitied me with her sad eyes whole the doctor told her everything.

She gave that sad look to Charlie anytime she saw him,

I wonder is he's ok, I hope he's not depressed as I am.

Why would he be?

"Alright, she can go back to school, I'm assuming she needs to" the doctor says to my mom with a half smile as she exits the room

"You have to go back, you've missed out a lot" she says

"you look amazing, just get work from your teachers, I'll be outside in the car, you don't have to stay all day" she says

"Thanks" was all i said

I walked into the school after the 20 minute drive, told the attendance clerk why i was there & who i was.

I walked to the class I had this period, I knocked on the door and waited, the teacher revealed himself and I immediately told him I needed work, I wasn't go in, no way.

I didn't want all eyes on me even though some people were staring. I knew people would find out that I was here, gossip spreads quickly.

I walked down the halls, people who I know said hi, I said hi back, I don't know why I had to do this, couldn't I just come afterschool?

"Olivia?" I hear a voice I recognized, I turned around to be greeted with a beautiful face.

Charlie; my beloved friend.

He pulled me into a hug

"I missed you" he said

"I missed you too, Charlie" I hug him back

--
"I have not felt
you
for so many days,
so many nights.
I have sat next to
a stranger.
I have held the hand
of a ghost.
I have kissed the lips
of a phantom
and I have put my arm
around the empty space
you should be my filling."
