****Nick's POV****
My phone starts ringing to the tune of Fergilicous, meaning it was Kenzi. She set the ringtone to that to annoy me and it just kind of got left as a joke. We both could sing the whole song, even though it wasn't our typical type of music. I liked classic rock while she liked country.
"Huh?" I answer and I can hear her sigh.
"Honestly it's a girl calling you SOME enthusiasm would be appreciated," she teases.
"It's 4 in the morning Kenz why are you calling me?"
"It's been raining for two days and my yards pure mud."
"And?"
"I want to go mudding wanna come?"
"Right now?"
"Yeah"
"Uh sure"
"Good because I'm standing by your apartment door freezing my ass off"
"Alright," I say getting up and walking out to the apartment door and opening it for her and hanging up the phone.
"I'm so cold," she says stepping in and shivering like a Chihuahua. I see that she's wearing just a T-shirt and shorts despite the chilly June night.
"You poor thing," I say pulling her close and wrapping her in my arms,"do you want a hoodie?"
"You don't have to...." she says but I take her hand and lead her into my room and open my closet.
"Pick one darlin," I say and her cheeks flush as she glances at me but feels over all of them.
Her eyes land on a grey one from the Olympics last year in Miami. I only had it because Nike got one for everyone in my family, but honestly I wanted to forget she was an Olympian. Don't get me wrong I loved her, but I liked her much more as just my sister.
"Have it, I can get another one in 3 years when Nike goes back."
She smiles and pulls it on, and I can't help but stare. The hoodie nearly covers her shorts, and since she took off her tall boots at my door her long tan legs are exposed.
"It looks good on you," I mutter into her ear before kissing her cheek lightly.
"You can do better than that, no flying volleyballs to stop you now," she says smirking and I smile before leaning down to kiss her, and I hear someone walking in but I honestly didn't care, right now it was just me and Mackenzie and I kissed her with everything I had, tangling one hand in her long hair and the other around her waist pulling her closer.
"Nick!" I hear a familiar voice yell.
I pull back and see Jed standing in the doorway.
"Can I help you?" I ask annoyed.
"Yeah where's the bottle opener?"
"I don't know just use your knife," I say but Makenzie's eyes go wide and I chase him out to the kitchen and find an actual bottle opener, we didn't need him drunk and trying to use a knife to get more beer.
"You about killed Jed," Kenzi says as we walk out to her truck.
"He about killed himself, it's his own damn fault for drinking so much."
"I'm taking it you don't drink?" she asks starting her truck.
"I think it's gross, so not really. You?"
"On occasion," she says shrugging it off but I could tell there was something she was hiding but I let it go.
We get to her place and she parks by the huge barn next to the house. She leads me in and I expect to see animals, but it's filled with enough tools for a auto shop, a few cars, a boat, a motorcycle, and a couple four wheelers.
"Is this all your dads?" I ask looking around in awe.
"The mustang is his," she says pointing at a red car in the corner,"and the boat, motorcycle, four wheelers, and about half the tools are his. The rest is mine."
I look and see that there's 4 other cars.
"Kenz you own 4 cars?" I ask, my jaw dropping.
"Yeah, well 5 if you count my truck," she says,"I get them from auctions and junkyards or just people selling them for cheap then fix them up and sell them for a lot more than I buy them for."
"That's amazing," I say in awe.
"Just wait until you see me ride a four wheeler," she says grinning as she kickstarts the one then gets off to let me on then gets onto another one.
"Careful its manual," she says laughing and I roll my eyes.
"I can ride believe it or not," I say laughing and speeding off into the muddy hills a couple hundred yards from her house.
I'm pretty sure I swallowed at least a gallon of mud, and I'm losing my voice from whooping and hollering and laughing, but I'm having the time of my life.
After a couple hours once the sun is high up in the sky we hose off and dry off laying on the roof of her house.
"Are you coming with us up to the Thomas cabin?" she asks cuddling up next to me so I wrap an arm around her and pull her close.
"When?" I ask,"my summer job starts next week and then I'll be working sunrise till noon Monday thru Friday"
"This coming weekend," she says,"Chesney, Graham, Wesley, Daxton, Jed, and Me are going for sure then Zadie said maybe if a friend of hers could come with."
"If you'll be there then I can't say no," I say smiling and kissing her softly.
