Hi, this is 13.5. I'm not done retyping the rest of it, because I  got sick. Yes, I have so many problems. But I was itching to upload it. I'm also really behind my Valentine Special. Lol so sorry.

Thirteen: Holiday Cheers?

Sophie

It was the best holiday I’ve had in four years, so far. It was as if I started a new life since I met Daniel, and there were so many first-time-in-four-years stuff about my life.

We were at the rest house in Pennsylvania, one that Aunt Kristen had bought for the sake of peace and quiet. It was snowing here, and really cold, but also warm at the same time. We were at dinner—it wasn’t formal.  We all pretty much wore pajamas to celebrate the Holiday. It was kind of cute, actually. Lucy wore bunny slippers like mine. Yes—Daniel’s family and mine were together. We had invited them to spend the rest of the vacation with us. It’s only been a day. They’d arrived this morning, after Daniel and I’s trip four days ago. We were able to come home by about one in the morning.

Aunt Kristen hadn’t been worried, because she called us every two hours on the trip back. Daniel had held my hand all the way, but when it came to goodbyes that night—er, morning, we were a bit awkward. So he just embraced me and gave me a light, lingering kiss on the lips.

“I’m going to go now?” he whispered against my lips.

I shook my head and he chuckled. He kissed me one more time.

            “I have to.” He smiled.

I laughed softly and pushed him away, my hands on his chest.

“Go. Before I don’t let you.”

“Good thinking.” He started to pull away from me, but managed to steal another kiss, his fingers slowly slipped from mine as he walked farther, until he jogged back to his car.

Tonight, however, was Christmas Eve, and Daniel and I were at the mall, doing some late shopping. I was quite surprised that everything felt new to me—back at the Wiggs’, they didn’t need to shop for presents during Christmas because all they did was pig out. It was my first time in four years to again put some effort on picking useful, and probably effective, Christmas presents for everyone. My list was a bit longer by five people now—Daniel’s family, and Aunt Kristen. Whenever I couldn’t go home to Aunt Kristen, all we did was send cards. It was different this year, because we were all staying at the rest house Aunt Kristen had here in Pennsylvania. Yes, we were at Pennsylvania—Aunt Kristen invited Daniel’s family to stay over for the rest of the break. The second quaintest town in America, and it’s snowing as usual.

I’d only been there twice before—first time was back when I was seven;  we had to stay there for a short while because the plumbing back at home was spraying water all over from inside the house. Second was after I got—you know. Aunt Kristen brought me there to rest for about a week.

“What did you want for Christmas? A stuffed toy? Mug? Do you even want anything?” I felt Daniel squeeze my hand with his free one while he grabbed on various presents-to-be for me.

“Anything would be fine, thanks,” I chuckled, “I just don’t want anyone spending too much on me,” I told him honestly.

“So I can like, surprise you? On Christmas morning?” he asked eagerly, face lighting up in an instant. I almost heard the Click! In his brain as he thought something through.
