That morning at the diner was a rough one. I already missed Wes which I told myself was bad, but it wasn't. Had I not told him goodbye, I wouldn't have been missing him, I'd have been daydreaming about him. But instead, I was constantly getting distracted and spacing out. I bumped into people and kept messing up orders. At one point I was even clumsy enough to almost spill a drink on a customer. That's when Ida decided to pull me aside.
"Valley, what's gotten into you?" She asked concerned for not only me but her restaurant's reputation. She was my friend but she was also my boss.
"I'm sorry, I'll be more careful," I poorly assured her.
"Is everything alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I sniffed. "I just had a late night and Wes and I-"
"Wes and you what?"
"You know, don't worry about it." I waved my hand and started turned away so she couldn't see my teary eyes.
"Vienna," she stopped me with a comforting hand. "Oh doll, what did you do?" I let her pull me into a hug as I released a choked sob and a few tears. "Do you need to take the morning off? I can handle the diner if-"
"I'll be fine. And I promise no more mistakes," I smiled reassuringly and pulled away from her.
"Alright," she said, clearly unconvinced. "Table 3's order is up. Don't drop anything," she smiled lightly but frowned alarmed when I burst with another painful sob at her comment.

It's okay to walk away sometimes. It's okay to walk away sometimes. It's okay to walk away sometimes. Those were the words I had been repeating in my head after I left Wes' apartment. It's what I was repeating in my head when I heard Wes' voice come from behind me.
"Enough of this crap."
I spun around, wide-eyed and breathless.
"Wes!" I smiled, actually forgetting about our situation for a moment. I even saw a smile twitch at his lips too- but only for a second. "Wes," I scrunched my eyebrows together, "what are you doing here?"
"I'm done. The stupid smell of your damn fruity hair is wearing off my pillows and sheets. So enough," he repeated.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, looking around the diner to see a few people were staring.
"I'm not doing this with you anymore and you aren't walking away again. You don't need more time, you just need to get over yourself and let me-"
"Don't," I warned before he could say the words.
