Note: for the sake of this fic, let's pretend vampires are not affected by the sun. Also i made the vampire turning process similar to the one in 'the vampire diaries' . To turn into a vampire you must die with vampire blood in your system, then you will be revived as a vampire, however you must feed on human blood in the next 24 hours.

You stood next to Dick Grayson, more known by his alias Robin, your boyfriend. Batman was instructing you and the others on the young justice team on the routine for the current given mission. You were given a warning that this could be potentially dangerous, which worried you. You knew your team mates were skilled and capable, but mission outcomes are always unpredictable and you worried for the safety of yourself and friends.

Once Batman finished, you and the rest of the team piled into the jet. You figured everyone was put on edge by the risk of the mission because no one uttered a word the entire trip. The team was instructed to track a group of sketchy criminals. Investigations read that highly dangerous undiscovered alien tech had fallen into their hands. What the criminals intended to do with it was unknown, but it was to hopefully be discovered soon.

Once you and the rest of the team reached your desired destination, everyone switched into stealth mode.

"Everyone follow the orders that Batman provided us with, it is crucial we stay on task and attempt not to make large errors, all our lives could be at stake." Kaldur'ahm explained to the team.

Everyone followed through, heading to where they needed to go. You were about to join your team members in completing your given orders when Dick called for you. "(Y/N)!"

"Yes?" You replied.

"I know you are strong, skilled and perfectly capable, especially with the advantage of being a vampire. However, please be careful. You know how dangerous just coming out here was, I can't lose you. I care for you so much and you mean everything to me..." Dick made a hesitant pause before continuing his sentence. "I love you."

Your eyes widened with shock. "You love me?"

Dick nodded. "Yes, a lot actually. Now I hate to be the one to ruin the moment but we should probably get going, our team needs us."

"You're right." You said, your mind off Dick's words and back on the mission at hand. "Let's go"

As you both dashed to the warehouse, you found the other members of the young justice team fighting the criminals. They were using tech that was nothing like anything you've seen before. It was amazing, but your time admiring the weapons was cut short when Wally spoke using the mind connections.

"Nice of you lovebirds to finally join us."

"Yeah, sorry for taking so long." Dick replied. "What information have you gathered so far?"

"Nothing valuable."  Kaldur'ahm answered. "Now can you and (Y/N) please join us? We could obviously use your help fighting these guys." 

"Yes, sorry."

You found Artemis who was struggling to fight one of the criminals. You used your enhanced speed to dart over there, and threw two taser disks at the their legs. They fell to the ground and dropped their weapon which you quickly picked up. To your luck it was a smaller gun shaped item which you quickly stashed on your belt.  Artemis shot an arrow at the fallen criminal leaving them stuck to the floor in a mucky slimey substance.

You stole a glance at Dick who had somehow managed to snatch one of the weapons from one of the criminals. It seemed as if he was handling it so you averted your attention to a criminal that was making their way towards you. They fired their weapon at you and you responded with a swift duck to the floor. Using your minimal flight ability you flew fast towards them using your feet to knock them to the floor hard.

Almost all of the criminals were down, their weapons scattered across the concrete floor. You and your team mates all glanced to Dick. He was attempting to fight off three criminals at once and he was failing. You filled with worry and ran over to help him. Most of the team was following, although before any of you's could reach him one of them used a weapon and he fell limp.

Realizing what had happen you let out a scream of terror. You ran over to him, taking him into your arms. He was fading fast, he had a few minutes left at the most. Your heart broke, it felt as if someone took a piercing jab at it, and they showed no mercy. Tears fell from your eyes as you collapsed into sobs.

"No, no, no, how could this happen?" You cried. "I can't lose you, I love you too."

Dick shot you a weak smile. "I know (Y/N)."

This only made more tears spill out of your eyes. You looked at Dick's pale face and your stomach dropped. You desperately wanted to save him, but the only possible method was to turn him into a vampire. That is definitely not a lifestyle that is beneficial. However, the more you thought about Dick having a chance to live, the more you wanted to do it.

His breaths shortened and his eyes began becoming droopy. It was your last chance, you had to take it. 

You bit your arm causing blood to stream out from the new wound. You found an open wound on Dick's body, letting your blood stream into it. Dick died in the next few seconds, but was re-awoken minutes later.

You turned to the rest of the team who either wore pale looks of horror or anxiety. You also noted that the criminals were gone, so were the weapons (excluding the one you stashed).

"W-what happened?" Dick spoke, his voice shaky.

"Well, uh. You died, but I um saved you by turning you into a vampire."

Dick's eyes went wide with shock. "You what?"

"I'm sorry, I-I wasn't thinking straight. I was horrified of losing you, I love you so much. Though now that I think about it, it was a selfish and stupid move."

"So, that's it? I'm officially a vampire now?" He questioned. You could sense his nerves through his voice. What was he supposed to tell Batman?, how is he going to control his cravings?, how is he going to have the heart to feed on another human just to keep himself alive?

"Well not exactly." You paused, you wished with every bone in your body you didn't have to tell him what comes next. "Y-you have to feed on another human in the next 48 hours, or you'll die."

Dick grew angry. "What!? I can't believe you would even think about doing something like this (Y/N). If you truly cared for me you would have let me go. If you weren't so damn selfish and only thought about your own feelings we wouldn't have been here, I wouldn't have to come back to a life of misery."

Hearing Dick's words hurt you. He was right.

"I'm sorry." Was all you managed to say.

He lead the other team members back to the jet. Leaving you to trail behind and sink into your emotions: pain, sorrow, guilt and sadness.
