You stood in front of the large rectangular mirror in your room. You examined your appearance skillfully, making sure you looked perfect for your 'date' with Conner.

Earlier he had asked you to meet him in the park at the nearby city. Without hesitation you agreed and assumed it was a date or something of the sort.

Once you were content with your appearance you steeped out of your room and took the zeta tubes to the park.

Once you arrived butterflies formed in your stomach as Conner waved to you from a bench he was standing at. You shot him a toothy smile before rushing over to him.

"Hi Conner!"

"Hi, [y/n]."

"So why did you ask me to come here? Are we going on a date?" You asked excitedly.

"Um, no. I asked for you to be here because we need to talk." Conner said with a serious expression.

Your face fell before saying. "Oh okay."

Conner sat down on the bench and you did the same. His usually icy eyes bore into yours and you felt vulnerable under his gaze.

"I'm breaking up with you." He spoke.

At those words your heart sank. It was if someone was stabbing your heart and your stabber was showing no mercy. You broke eye contact before speaking softly.

"Why?"

Conner looked away as well and hesitated before answering your question. "It's because of M'gann. I have feelings for her, I knew it for the past few months. I tried to push them away [y/n], I really did but I just can't deny them. If I stayed in this relationship it would be unfair to you."

You gave him a weak smile, ignoring your shattering heart. "I understand. Even if we're not dating, I'll always be here for you. No matter what. Okay?"

Conner nodded and shot you a smile aa he pulled you into a hug. "Thank you." He said.

You remained silent, attempting to control the tears threatening to spill.

Conner pulled apart and walked you back to the zeta tube. There was a silence between you two. The kind that signalled the end.

You were heartbroken, but you were tough and new you could get through this.
