A Hike in the Woods - Raulson

"Hey, Sarah, wake up!"

"No."

"We are going hiking today!"

"Lily, come back to bed."

Lily was already ready for the day, packing her bag, along with Sarah's. Lily was wearing short Nike shorts, that Sarah loved, and a white tank top with a black sports bra. She threw her hair up in her usual messy ponytail and got on her tennis shoes. Meanwhile, Sarah was in her underwear and tee in bed. Lily had picked out her hiking clothes. She was going to wear short cargo shorts and a red sports tee. Sarah finally rolled out of bed and got up. Her and Lily kissed.

"I love you sunshine." Sarah said to her tall blonde partner.

"I love you more." Lily would back.

After getting everything situated, they left their apartment to get inside Lily's Hyundai Sonata. They started their hour drive to the local state park.

"Hey, hand over the Aux cord." said Lily. She plugged in some music and they sang every song all the way to their destination. They got out of the car and walked to the hiking entrance.

"2 and a half miles?! There is no way in hell Im walking that!" Sarah says pouting.

"Oh quit complaining! It'll be fun!" Lily says starting down the path. Sarah follows behind and looks at all the nature.

"You know, this isn't that bad is it..?" Sarah says catching up to Lily to hold her hand.

"No it's not. As long as I have you, I'm okay." Lily says smiling and leaning into Sarah. Sarah locks her arms around Lily and they kiss. Lily smiles while her lips are pressed against Sarah's.

They continue the walk and approach a two path option way.

"Well this one has no sign, so it must be awesome, let's follow it!" Sarah says adventurously.

Lily follows behind saying nothing. After about a half hour of hiking, they stop and take a rest on a large rock. They are both sweating.

"Man, this has been a good hike!" Lily says taking a granola bad out of her bag. She munches on it with her mouth full. "Gosh, I am so hungry!"

"Me too." Sarah pulls out a family size bag of Doritos.

"Really? This is supposed to be healthy you know." Lily says rolling her eyes at her lover.

"Ask me if I care?" Sarah says opening the bag and stuffing her face. The two share a laugh and then they drink their water bottles and continue the hike.

"Where even are we?" Lily asks.

Sarah pulls out her phone. "No signal."

"Well shit, this path is so curvy and windy, I don't even remember where we came from." Lily says wiping her forehead of sweat.

They keep trekking along until they see a sign.

"Well it says Meadow Trail end." Lily says.

"I mean, that means we have to just turn back around right?" Sarah asks.

"We didn't begin on Meadow Trail. We began on Pinecone Trail. " She says glancing nervously at Sarah.

"Hey, there's a big map up there!" Sarah says.

They walk to it and it's at the beginning of the park. They are relieved.

"Hey our car is right there!" Lily says.

"That was too confusing. I'm never hiking with you again, Rabe."

"You say that every time, Paulson."

They get in the car and drive home. Sarah sleeps away in the front seat. They are very tired and are ready to sleep.
